A new study has found that fewer and fewer workers and knowledge immigrants are choosing to travel to the Netherlands for work. According to the intelligence group, a market research agency, negative attitudes towards labour migrants are one of the main reasons for this, which has also had a negative impact on the business environment, with more and more entrepreneurs considering leaving the Netherlands.

The Netherlands has become less attractive to labor and knowledge immigrants.

Many international people looking for work abroad choose other countries more frequently than the Netherlands, such as Germany and the United Kingdom. Intelligence groups report that the reasons why labor and knowledge migrants are choosing the Netherlands less are political, real estate markets, rogue employment agencies, and the growing intolerance of international migrants.

Some employers have expressed concern about the negative attitudes of immigrants because of labor market shortages, especially in the technical and healthcare sectors, which require migrant workers to cope with these challenges. ASML, a maker of chip machinery, recently said it could move some of its operations to other countries if the Netherlands can't find enough employees.

The business environment in the Netherlands has deteriorated.

Expats aren't the only ones worried about the Netherlands. An annual survey on the business environment conducted by VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland found that out of 1,600 people who participated in the survey, 44% of entrepreneurs believe that the Netherlands is not an attractive country to do business and nearly 20% consider leaving altogether. Since last year, these two numbers have almost doubled.

The business community is most concerned about the lack of stability in the Netherlands**, as well as the increasing regulatory burden, staffing and tax shortages. This has led to a decline in investment, as about 25% of entrepreneurs have decided not to invest in the Netherlands next year.
