On He Yaozu A legend of the Bureau of Espionage who endured humiliation

The famous military commander, when it comes to it, what comes to our minds is undoubtedly Dai Li, the "king of spies". Everyone knows that Dai Li is not the director of the military command, but the deputy director. It's strange why do people prefer to call him Boss Dai instead of Director Dai? It's not a simple matter.

In fact, this mystery can be smelled from modern spy war dramas. Boss Dai is talking about Dai Li, although he is only the deputy of the military commander, but in fact, in the military command, he is the existence of the dominant party. And the protagonist I want to talk about today is a figure who used to be the director of the Military Command Bureau, a guy named He Yaozu.

Perhaps some people are not too familiar with He Yaozu. He is also a Hunan boy, who went to the Japanese military academy to mix up some knowledge when he was young, and showed his skills in the Hunan army after returning to China. In 1926, he defected to the Kuomintang and became a senior general, successively serving as the commander of the 40th Army, the commander-in-chief of the 3rd Army Corps, etc., and finally honorably concurrently served as the head of the Military Command Bureau.

Why did He Yaozu come to serve as the director of the Military Command? Could it be that Chiang Kai-shek didn't like Dai Li? Indeed, Dai Li was not at the highest level in the Kuomintang at that time, and the people around him were more dazzling than him. Although Dai Li was Chiang Kai-shek's confidant, he still needed some strength to grasp the real military power. Therefore, it has become inevitable to let He Yaozu ascend to the throne.

Chiang Kai-shek was a slippery head, although the title of director of the Military Command Bureau was given to He Yaozu, but in fact it was Dai Li who was controlling the power. He Yaozu knew that this was just a false position, and he had contradictions with Chiang Kai-shek, especially in the War of Resistance Against Japan, Chiang Kai-shek thought about how to rectify the Communist Party, but He Yaozu was dissatisfied with it. Ostensibly he opposed Chiang Kai-shek, but in fact he had ties to the Communists, secretly supported the Red Army on several occasions, and even released them.

The conflict between He Yaozu and Chiang Kai-shek intensified, especially in 1942 when the Soviet Union aided the Chinese Communist Party in the pharmaceutical incident. He Yaozu dared to secretly release aids, but as soon as he found out, Chiang Kai-shek dismissed him from all his posts without saying a word. However, Chiang Kai-shek later reactivated him, after all, He Yaozu's status in the Kuomintang was still very high.

However, the scene of 1949 turned all plans upside down. He Yaozu united Long Yun and others to raise the flag of rebellion in Hong Kong, and this news made Chiang Kai-shek extremely angry. He Yaozu's resistance this time shows us that his courage and persistence are no longer a passive role.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, He Yaozu devoted himself to the cause of national construction, serving as a member of the Central and Southern Military and Political Commission and Minister of Communications. Although he cooperated with the Communist Party in 1949, he was not excluded because of this, but continued to contribute to social progress in the construction of New China.

Eventually, the former head of the military command bureau died in Beijing in 1961 at the age of 73. His life has gone through a tortuous but rich process, and he has become a figure that cannot be ignored in modern Chinese history.

He Yaozu, a figure who has had glorious moments in the long river of history, is a unique existence that has not only resisted the leadership, but also devoted his efforts to the construction of the country. His life is not only a part of the history of the Chinese unification, but also a picture that reflects the changes of that era.
