When we learn about the ancient literati and writers, we will experience a sense of freedom and ease that is difficult for modern people to have.
Since Zhuangzi wrote "Wandering Away", this kind of free and easy style has been passed down for thousands of years, so much so that it has become a spiritual symbol of our ancient literati. When we imagine the image of Zhuge Liang in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, he is by no means a military uniform and armor. In our memory, he was always dressed in a robe, with a scarf tied around his head, and he looked like a scholar who read poetry and books.
In historical descriptions, he often sat in a car, holding a fan, calmly commanding the troops to fight. The poet Du Fu of later generations described him in his poems: "a feather in the sky through the ages", the kind of appearance that even in the face of the pressure of millions of male troops, he still calmly talked and laughed, which was deeply engraved in the minds of the world.
During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, there were many people who also had a similar style. For example, a famous general during the Jin Dynasty, Yanghu, played a very key role in Sima Yan's unification of China. And this Yanghu, as a military general, when he was a generalissimo in front, was not a suit of armor, but a "light fur belt".
"Light fur" refers to the leather robe worn in winter, while the "slow belt" is the belt tied around the waist of civil and military officials, which is usually loose and tightened when something happens. Just like the belt we see in Peking Opera, it hangs below the stomach to indicate that the "light fur belt" is very comfortable.
In Peking Opera, when Guan Gong appeared, he wore a costume with narrow sleeves on one side and a large robe on the other half. Why is Guan Gong's costume like this? Because the generals are going to send troops to fight, they are all narrow sleeves for easy hands, and the large robe on the other side represents the literati temperament of light clothes and slow belts. When these two kinds of clothes are combined, it means that he is both civil and military.
There are also some famous people and examples in history, which also highlight that the ancients admired this kind of unhurried and free atmosphere, and they came to emulate it.
During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, there was also a celebrity Xie An. In the Battle of Weishui, the front reported victory, and his side defeated the 800,000 army led by Fu Jian. At this time, Xie An was playing chess, and when he heard this shocking good news, he didn't move, as if he hadn't heard it. But he was already very happy in his heart, but he still pretended to be calm and imitated Zhuangzi's carefree and relaxed. When he finished playing chess, he immediately ran to his house, because he ran so fast that he ran off the heel of his shoe.
There is also an ancient ** joke, that is, there is a father who, in order to gain fame, failed the exam for one or two decades. Later in his exams with his own son.
On the day of the release, because I was too nervous, I ran back to my room to take a shower. When his son was outside, he shouted, "Dad! I got it! The father replied in the bath: "A little fame, what's so great about getting the exam, what are you nervous about?" ”
The son then shouted, "Dad! You've also passed the test! His father exclaimed, pushed the door open and ran out, forgetting to put on his clothes.
Whether it is the remembered romantic and carefree characters in history, or the small characters in the world, this kind of free and easy literati spirit has long penetrated into the spiritual world of the ancients and has become an example for the ancients to learn. And this kind of free and easy culture is also deeply engraved in our national spirit, making us also yearn for that kind of free, indifferent, leisurely life.
