I have been in the industry for many years, and the industry has given me a great feeling that something as simple as interior design, but as long as some practitioners package it very high, they can charge high design fees, especially if there are many people who are loyal to pay. Strictly speaking, why is he simple? Analogous to architectural design of the same type and scale, interior design for experienced practitioners, a single designer may be able to do a lot of work such as schematic design, rendering design and construction drawing. Architectural design, even if it is a small private residential building, requires at least four disciplines to be involved, of which architectural design and construction drawing work of each discipline also require at least four people. Of course, this also includes the case where the main creator of the schematic design is responsible for the design of the scheme, renderings and construction drawings, although in most cases there is a division of labor. Despite this, in the face of decades of design costs, even so low that the price of cabbage is still only a few people pay for it. Today we are going to introduce you to a private home designed by a team of architects and see how it achieves a unique personality with huge cantilevers.
The project is located in Portugal and is adjacent to a sloping road, where the natural gradient seems to be the most prominent feature of the site, and nothing else. The few plants around it have become a lack of landscape, but fortunately there is the sea in the distance, and in between, the building has been designed from the beginning to highlight the personality of the building itself, with the distant sea landscape as the distant view. However, compared with the prediction and use of the site, the characteristics of the building itself seem to be more attractive, and its visually striking cantilevered shape is impressive.
From the street, you can find that it is based on the concrete structure system as the core, the bare concrete does not need additional decoration, with its own material texture to show people, the strong sense of power seems to be swearing its uniqueness as a private residence, people dare not approach easily, the privacy of the private house is self-evident, the connection with the road is directly to the underground roadway, and the seemingly exaggerated cantilevered volume is to build a function that cannot be guessed from the perspective of people, an open-air rectangular swimming pool.
The ground floor space is integrated with the hillside of the site, the building is like growing out of the site, the concrete structure system brings a strong sense of strength, and it is necessary to put light and nihilistic materials, and the large-area glass door and window system is such an existence, so that the two form a strong contrast between the virtual and the real, so that the building has a richer sense of façade hierarchy between the blocks.
This structural system is not absent in conventional private houses, but it is definitely uncommon, as soon as it presents the cantilevered distance can already discourage most people, this kind of cantilevered structure, professional structural engineers are indispensable, for the analysis of the entire force and load calculation, are essential steps. Compared with a single form of interior design, such an imaginative work can only be completed by the collaboration of multiple disciplines. Of course, why the real architect team rarely designs such a structural system, on the one hand, is limited by the owner's cost budget, on the other hand, it is also limited to the design budget for the designers, when you want to use one dollar to leverage the workload of 100 yuan, it is very unlikely. If architects can receive designs from interior designers who are very good at packaging, I think this kind of imaginative work will only become more and more common.
