On February 5th, the new policy for studying abroad in Canada was updated, and the international student policy previously released by IRCC has been updated and clarified in detail, mainly focusing on the following four aspects:
A note on the Pal Provincial Letter: Submitted student visa applications will not be affected; PAL letters will no longer be required in the following cases: applications for primary and secondary school students, master's and doctoral degree applications, exchange or visiting students, those with student visas or work visas, and their family members;
In terms of Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP): Graduates of master's programs of less than two years can also obtain a three-year work permit;
PGWP Eligibility for Public-Private Partner Academy Programs: Newly admitted students will not be eligible for PGWP, but currently enrolled students will remain eligible if they meet other program eligibility criteria;
Adjustment of spouse work permit: Only spouses of students who are currently enrolled in master's and doctoral programs can apply for a spouse work permit, including extensions; Spouses of undergraduate and associate students are no longer eligible, unless it is deferred.
It is expected that the USCIS will release more policy updates and explanations, and we will continue to monitor them.
