Xiangxi, located in the west of Hunan, is connected to Changde, Loudi, Shaoyang and other places in the east, Guangxi in the south, Sichuan-Guizhou in the west, and northwest Hubei in the north. In the old days, the transportation was inconvenient, the economy and culture were very backward, known as the "three more" (more guns, more bandits, more opium) said, it was always the far place of the emperor of the sky.
Bandits are a product of history, and in addition to the economic and social situation, the formation of bandits in Xiangxi also has its own unique regional characteristics. The first is the complex and remote geographical environment, the second is the unique traditional accumulation and national character, and the third is backward cultural education.
From the perspective of geographical environment, Xiangxi has always been in a remote area, with lofty mountains and mountains, and rugged roads are very conducive to bandits, and the places where bandits live are often easy to defend and difficult to attack.
For a long time, bandits of all sizes have taken advantage of the local dangerous mountains and rivers to rob homes and houses, rape and plunder, and bring endless suffering to the people of Xiangxi.
It has been pointed out that "all bandits arise from poverty, and poverty is due to unemployment; Banditry is a product of poverty and hunger. This is the most fundamental reason why the bandits in Xiangxi were born.
We have also written about many bandits in Xiangxi and other places before, such as Qu Bojie, Peng called the donkey, Wang Sanchun, Zhang Jieba, etc., among them, there are green forest heroes and fierce bandits, because of their different causes, each of them has their own special experience.
But when it comes to this today, it may be the most well-known one, mainly because of a TV series of "The Story of Bandits in Oolong Mountain", in which the cunning ** old bandit Tian Dabang, you may still have an impression, not that this old man is capable, the key is that the scene of chasing dogs is too exciting.
Today, let's take a look at what kind of person the real "Bangye" is...
Portrait of Yao Dabang.
Yao Dabang, in the eighth year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1882), was born in Yaojiayuan (now Fangjiatun, Xinhuang Dong Autonomous County), Huangzhou, Hunan, Dong nationality.
Yao Dabang's book name is Yao Zhankui, because he grew thick when he was a child, especially with thick arms, and his parents loved him, so they often called him "big shoulders". Over time, Yao Zhankui was no longer shouted, and everyone called him Yao Dabang.
Yao Dabang studied in a private school for a few years when he was a child, and he still knew some words, and his family had dozens of loads of grain fields. His father, Yao Deqin, is an authentic and honest farmer in Yao Jiayuan (I see some claims on the Internet that Yao Dabang's family is half peasant and half bandit, but I found that there is no record of this in the initial literature), his mother is honest and kind, his brother died at an early age, and his two younger sisters and one sister are old girls at home.
Yao Dabang is the only root of the family to receive incense, his parents hope that he will grow up**, glorify his ancestors, and send him to private school, but Yao Dabang is stubborn and likes to play, loves to read books such as martial arts, and is deeply influenced by the heroes of the green forest, and has the idea of being a hero since he was a child.
Therefore, when Tongren ran a martial arts hall later, he went to take the exam, and the result was also admitted, during the study, he especially liked to dance knives and guns, and his running speed was the fastest in the school, if it was not a troubled time, he might have taken the right path to participate in the Asian Games or something.
It is said that the male college has changed eighteen, and Yao Dabang has not become a spiritual guy as an adult, but the longer he grows, the heavier his face becomes, and later it is estimated that he still suffers from severe periodontitis, and his teeth have fallen out a lot, and his front teeth are exposed with a row of seams, which looks particularly terrifying.
Yao also has a bit of humor, likes to make fun of people, especially likes to use cigarette pouches to burn the hair on the back of women's and young people's heads, making a "squeak" sound, and feels that listening to this sound makes me feel relaxed. The person who is burned must not be angry, otherwise, he will use the excuse to make a living. As a result, people are afraid of him when they get close to him, so they pretend to call him "Yao Laozi", of course, this is a later story.
Yao Dabang, who stayed in the martial arts school for a year, after his father died, there was no one to supervise him, so he dropped out of school and wandered in the local area.
Once a cow in his family was stolen by a man named Cai Jiangou, after Yao Dabang knew, he brought a plywood gun to ask him to return the cow, Cai's family was powerful, and said brutally: "If you want to retreat, you can only take a white fish cub (meaning a small knife) to return you." ”
Yao Dabang saw that not only did they not retreat the cow, but also said that they wanted to kill people, so he picked up his gun in anger and said, "Lao Tzu won't kill you!" Cai Jiangou fell down in response, and lost his breath after a few convulsions.
After that, Yao Dabang invited the neighboring Yao Guoan (nicknamed Yasheng Shorty) and Yao Benfu (nicknamed Fulin Mazi) to form a gang, and got more than 20 guns from Tang Qingyun, a famous bandit in Huang County at that time, and began his career as a bandit who killed one party.
At the beginning, Yao Dabang and others were fledgling and timid, and after killing people for the first time, they were afraid that others would find trouble, so they took their spearmen to Cengong County, Guizhou, where they were locked up and robbed, robbed homes, and killed innocents, and got a windfall, returned to Guniuxi, and developed into a big bandit.
In order to facilitate the concealment of his whereabouts, Yao Dabang moved his family from Guniuxi, not far from the county seat, to Fangjiatun, where the mountains are high and the forests are dense, and the sparsely populated Fangjiatun is located at the junction of Hunan and Guizhou provinces.
Not long after, Yao Dabang and others grabbed more and more windfalls, so they bought land there, expanding from a small thatched hut to a main house and two wing houses.
In Wucheng, Yuping County, Guizhou, not far away, a new villa was built for his wife Jiang Guanying to live in. successively robbed the five folk girls of the Long family, the Huang family, the Liang family and the Peng family, for them to play with.
The family property has also grown from the original 60 stone fields to more than 1,200 stones, and has more than 200 bandit armies, and has opened arsenals in Xinmin, Xuetangping and Zhangjiazhai and other places, casting guns, and becoming a famous party on the border of Hunan and Guizhou.
Although Yao Dabang is domineering, he also knows that "rabbits don't eat grass next to the nest, and eagles don't hit stones under their feet". He has a certain protective effect on the neighboring people.
He does not allow outsiders or his subordinates to do evil in the Fangjiatun area, and if there is any misconduct, it will be investigated to the end.
Once, a bandit surnamed Wu under his command, within the jurisdiction, murdered a passing merchant, outsiders said that Yao Dabang did it, he was very angry and traced it everywhere, knowing that it was the surname Wu who did it, so he went to him and asked, "sell batches, you killed the merchant?" ”
The surname Wu was so frightened that his face was like earth, his whole body trembled, and he immediately knelt down and said to Yao Zuo: "Yes... I killed it. I'm damned! I'm damned! Please spare your life. ”
Yao Dabang said coldly: "Okay! Got it, then you go back! ”
Wu thought that he was merciful, kowtowed again and again, got up and turned around and walked a few steps, Yao Dabang took out a pistol and killed him to the ground.
Chen Laoman's house, not far from Fangjiatun, was robbed by Panqiaoqiao, the leader of the Guizhou bandits, and Chen Laoman's family informed Yao Dabang. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, he took people to arrest Pan Qiaoqiao, and on the one hand, he feasted his own pockets, asking Pan to give him 500 yuan of Yinyang's "hardship fee", and on the other hand, he asked Pan to return the Chen family's property.
After the money and goods were paid, Pan was killed in front of everyone. In several nearby villages, the local ** did not dare to raise troops and send money, and young people were arrested or encountered lawsuits, as long as they asked for money and went to him, everything would be fine.
When there is a dispute in the township, he spares no expense, treats each other with wine and meat, and asks him, an "old man", to administer justice, whether he wins or loses, he has the final say.
In the local area, there is a big landlord called "demon woman", and his family has ten thousand stone valley fields. One year, she sold more than 100 stones and began to sell them to a landlord in Zhangjiawan.
Yang Zonggui, a large landowner in Huang County, had a deep relationship with the demon woman, and instigated the demon woman to sell the land to him behind his back.
Therefore, a dispute arose. The two sides asked Yao Dabang to settle it, Yao each charged Guangyang 200 yuan, paid the money, and gave Tian to Zhangjiawan, and said that Yang intervened in front of everyone and gave Yang Zonggui a few slaps.
In order to win people's hearts and hide people's eyes, he set up a Yuping Central School in the triangle area at the junction of Huangxian, Yuping and Wanshan, and served as the principal. In fact, Yao Dabang actually used this as a base to collude with bandits everywhere and sit on the ground to share the spoils.
In 1918, it was a period when Yao Dabang's people were particularly rampant, plundering everywhere, and the local merchants were very afraid of him, so they wanted to encircle him to avoid future troubles, so they asked him to serve as the squadron leader of the Huang County Baoshang Brigade.
Yao Dabang ostensibly protects the business, but he unscrupulously asks the merchant for supplies to enrich his own pocket. When a large amount of money and goods arrived, Yao took all the people and guns away, and joined forces with Cao Yunzhou, the leader of the Yuping bandits, to become bandits and stationed in Yuping County. The firm dared to be angry and did not dare to speak, so it had to consider itself unlucky.
The Kuomintang was also very helpless about it, so it recruited Yao Dabang and named Yao Dabang as the captain of the Huangxian, Yuping, and Wanshan joint defense offices in the Hunan-Guizhou border region.
Ma Yushu, director of the Wangjiaxi Youth League Defense Bureau in Yuping County, colluded with Yao Dabang to rob their homes. Once, a secret report found that 10 people were passing by this place with opium, and Yao and Ma secretly divided the opium they got equally.
So he set up an ambush, killed 9 of the 10 people who picked opium, and the remaining one was also slashed by Yao Dabang with a saber, rolled down the field, escaped with injuries, and went to the Tongren Special Office to accuse.
The Kuomintang commander Bai in Tongren immediately sent a team to arrest Yao Dabang, Yao was an old bandit, knowing that if he escaped from someone, someone would definitely come to arrest him immediately, so he had already hidden, and the team was empty.
In desperation, he blamed the director Ma Yushu for having no jurisdiction over this place and poor governance, arrested Ma and sent him to prison, and found out that the two had colluded, so Ma Yushu was escorted to the execution ground and shot. Yao embezzled the stolen opium, and Ma became Yao's scapegoat.
Wang Tianpei
In 1926, Wang Tianpei, the commander of the 10th Army of the Northern Expeditionary Army, recruited troops in Tianzhu, Guizhou, and Yao Dabang took his minions to defect, and was named the commander of the 1st Battalion of the 1st Regiment of the 10th Division of the National Revolutionary Army.
In 1934, in order to intercept the Red Army, the Kuomintang ** once again recruited Yao Dabang and appointed him as the "Deputy Captain of the Huangxian Shovel Communist Volunteer Corps", and in July of the following year, Yao Dabang once again dragged his gun up the mountain as a bandit after receiving supplies.
At the beginning of 1936, ** led the Red.
2. When the Sixth Army Corps marched through Huang County, it sent a letter to Yao Dabang, warning him not to be obsessed with his mind, to become enemies of the people, to change his ways, and to turn his guns on the Kuomintang. And Yao did not listen to the advice, on the contrary, he also had a large number of wounded and sick left by the Red Army and the masses who were close to the Red Army.
The Kuomintang ** has been to Yao Zhao'an several times, repeatedly, repeatedly betrayed, Yao is not convinced, and the Kuomintang ** said that Yao Dabang is a beast and is untamable. Therefore, the Kuomintang was helpless against him and had nothing to do. This has to make people sigh at the same period of Qu Bojie, one of the two is looking forward to Zhao'an being deceived repeatedly, and the other is frequently recruiting and deceiving Zhao'an troops...
In August 1940, the Kuomintang, which was determined to clean up Yao Dabang, sent the 1st Independent Brigade and 3rd Regiment of the 109th Army to take the method of purging Yao Dabang. Once, when the clean-up team learned that Yao had snatched a woman from Wanshan and spent the night in Wucheng, they immediately sent a company of people to rush to arrest her.
At this time, Yao was playing cards with the woman in his arms, and the arrest team approached the edge of the house and quickly surrounded the house. Yao Dabang heard a noise outside and knew that something was wrong. quickly blew out the lights, pushed the woman away, climbed onto the roof with a bed of cotton wool next to him in three steps and two steps, and threw the broken cotton wool to the other end of the house.
The team surrounding the house saw a black shadow falling from the house, thinking that it was Yao Dabang who had escaped, shouting "Catch alive, catch alive", and they all rushed to the black shadow.
Taking advantage of the panic, Yao Dabang jumped down from the other end of the house. When the soldiers found that there was a bed of rotten cotton wool on the ground, Yao Dabang had already slipped away, and the company commander knew that he had been hit by Yao's plan to attack the east and the west and divert the tiger from the mountain.
Another day, it was drizzling, and the cleaning team had to report that Yao Dabang had returned home, and came to Yao Dabang Village at dawn. Yao Dabang, who had already gotten up, saw that the situation was not good, so he grabbed a hat, put on a coat, and put two fast and slow machines in a random package of oiled paper, put them in a dung bucket filled with dung water, pretended to be an old farmer, and walked out with the dung bucket.
didn't go far, the captain grabbed him and asked, "Old man, is Yao Dabang at home?" Yao Dabang lowered his head, pretending to be honest, as soon as he changed his shoulders, the fecal water splashed outward, staining the captain's pants, the captain hurriedly took a step back, and the soldier next to him scolded, "Silly old man, be careful!" What about you, Yao Dabang doesn't have it at home? ”
He didn't dare to look up, but pointed to a room and said, "He... He had just woken up and was smoking a big cigarette in his room. ”
The troops immediately surrounded the house and surrounded it layer by layer. Yao Dabang passed two ridges, threw the dung bucket, took out two fast and slow machines, and fled.
The troops searched his home and saw only several of his wives and children. The captain asked his wife, where is Yao Dabang? His wife said, "I just picked up the dung and went out."
The captain was so angry that he pointed at the soldier and scolded: "Don't hurry up and chase me!" But Yao Dabang fled without a trace again.
In a fit of rage, they arrested his wife and children, and collected all the gold and silver property he had looted.
Yao Dabang has killed a lot of people, and naturally has a lot of blood debts, and he is always suspicious and afraid of accidents. His twin guns, always in his pocket, talk to people. Keep your hands on your guns. After this catastrophe again, Yao Dabang became more vigilant, and he brought an "alarm clock" to sleep at night, he put the cigarette on his fingers or toes, and when the cigarette burned to his fingers and toes, he changed another place, often moving several places overnight.
Once talking with a merchant in the store, the other party sneezed due to a cold, reached into his pocket to get a handkerchief, and Yao thought he had bad intentions, so he immediately took out a gun, and with a bang, he knocked him to the ground.
The people in the store were so frightened that they ran away with their heads in their hands, and the merchant's accomplices were also so frightened that they collapsed at the table, Yao Dabang said disapprerovingly: "His hand is in his pocket with a gun, if I don't kill him, he will kill me." ”
The crowd picked up the deceased, pulled out his hand from his pocket, and pinched a handkerchief.
According to local legend, Yao Dabang's little wife was stolen from a bet from the Kuomintang county magistrate.
The county magistrate's little wife looks like a flower, Yao Dabang thought about it for a while, and said to the county magistrate: "Let's make a bet." ”
The county magistrate said, "What a bet." ”
Yao said: "Don't you have a good hunting dog, you let it out, I chase it, if I can't catch your hunting dog, I will compensate you two burdens of Guangyang, if I catch this hunting dog, what do you give me?" ”
The county magistrate looked at Yao Dabang, thought for a while and said, "I'll also give you two burdens of Guangyang." ”
"I don't want Koyo. ”
"What do you want? ”
"I want your little wife! ”
The county magistrate pondered for a moment and looked at Yao Dabang again: "Okay!" I promise you. ”
The result was that after the dog was released, Yao Dabang took a few puffs of cigarette before he started to chase it, and he didn't run far and really caught the dog.
By the time Yao Dabang passed the sixtieth year, he could still walk like flying. Once, he and his entourage, on the way back to Huang County from Zhijiang, saw a dog running in front, so he asked the entourage who could go and catch the dog, and the entourage shook their heads one by one. When Yao saw it, he rolled up his sleeves, hurried forward in three steps and two places, and after a while, he grabbed the dog back, and the others were shocked when they saw it.
After escaping back to Huang County with a dung bucket, Yao Dabang asked Zhang Benqing, a well-known local person, to save his wife and children.
Zhang Benqing's youth photo.
Zhang Benqing is a student of the first phase of the Huangpu Military Academy, served as the commander and brigade commander of the regular Kuomintang troops, and is a native of Luomaoxi, Dawan, Huangxian County. In his early years, Zhang was highly regarded by Chiang Kai-shek and served as the head of Chiang's guard. Later, because of his joint anti-Chiang efforts, he was abandoned by Chiang and returned to his hometown of Huang County to serve as a provincial senator.
In 1939, Yao Dabang and Zhang Benqing jointly defeated Zhang Pinggang, who operated the mercury mine in Huangxian County, and cooperated in the mercury mine, and they had close contacts. In a desperate situation, Yao asked Zhang Benqing to intercede. The independent regiment offended Yao Dabang, but it couldn't offend Zhang Benqing.
So Zhang Benqing used his prestige and energy to save Yao's family, and since then, Yao has hosted many banquets, thanked Zhang Benqing, and said to Zhang repeatedly: "Brigade Commander Zhang, thanks to your rescue, I will never forget your life-saving grace in this life and the next life." ”
Zhang Benqing joked: "The murder is yours, and the lawsuit is mine." ”
Yao Dabang replied: "If I kill someone, I will win the lawsuit, and mine is faster than yours." The two parted happily.
Soon after, due to the uneven division of the mercury mine jointly operated by the two, Yao sent Yao Xichang to be the mercury mine management office, and Zhang Benqing sent Yang Hong, a Xiushan man, to be the management office, Yao Dabang secretly killed Yang Hong, so the irreconcilable contradiction was buried.
Zhang Benqing said at the first meeting of the first session of the Huang County Senate: "I will not allow the development of evil forces, I will protect the territory and the people, at least go up to the catfish shop (hotel pond) and down to the gatehouse, that is, in the territory of Huang County, I will not allow the bandits to make trouble, and whoever wants to make trouble, I will kill whom."
As a result, the bandits in Huangxian County did not dare to act recklessly for a while, and the banditry did not develop much. For Zhang Benqing, the county government and local gentlemen did not dare to offend him, and the power was so great that they were daunted.
Yao Dabang regarded Zhang Benqing as a thorn in his eye, but he didn't dare to pull out his teeth in the tiger's mouth, and he still got along in harmony on the surface.
Secondly, Zhang Benqing wanted to marry his cousin Zhang Puzhi as his wife, and his ex-wife Guo Shunqing ran away in anger. Zhang's move was regarded by his family as a corruption of family rules, and was scolded by the family and condemned by the society.
In this regard, Yao Dabang also satirized. At a banquet attended by Yao and Zhang, Yao said in front of everyone about Zhang's marriage to his cousin: "The bullpen stands on the field, and the dung does not fall into the fields of outsiders." ”
Zhang has a red face and red ears, like a dumb person eating yellow lotus, has words of suffering, and hates Yao Dabang in his heart.
In addition, Hu Jipu (also known as Hu Huiqing) is provoking it, which makes the contradiction between Yao and Zhang even more intensified. Hu Jipu was known as the "literati" of Huang County at that time, making paper for people and writing poems for reciprocal purposes, which was very good with Yao.
Although Hu also had dealings with Zhang, it was far inferior to his relationship with Yao. Once, when Hu went to Zhang's house, he had a tongue of right and wrong because of writing a piece of paper, and was smashed into his face by the upright Zhang Benqing with a teacup, and smashed a large part of his face, so he was greatly wronged.
Hu Wei took this breath and asked his son Hu Houbiao to find Yao Dabang for help. Before dawn the next day, the fog was hazy, Hu Houbiao touched the door of Yao's house, Yao Dabang, who got up early, saw Hu Houbiao, and asked, "Biaobiao, you came so early, what's the matter?" ”
"Older life, you don't know, my father went to Zhang Benqing yesterday, and for a few words, he smashed his face with a teacup and injured my father's face. He also said: "My father and you are in the same group, they are nothing, and they can't become any climate." ”
After listening to Hu Houbiao, Yao Dabang, who has always been unwilling to be bullied and can't tolerate others talking about him, said: Uncle wants to see, he is so capable! Immediately took a few entourages and Hu Houbiao down the mountain and went to find Zhang Benqing together.
Seeing Zhang, Yao opened his mouth and said: "Zhang Benqing, don't deceive people too much, if you have the ability, we will go out for a trip." Since then, the relationship between the two has fallen apart, and Huang County has shown a situation where one dominates the city and the other dominates the countryside.
Tung oil
After Zhang returned to Huang County, in order to make his family business, he opened a company called Benpu Company in Longxikou, the company occupied the house of the Jiangxi Gang, and the Jiangxi Gang asked for it to be returned, but Zhang did not allow it, during which a large number of tung oil and other products were purchased, and the business was prosperous. In addition, Zhang operated the Longxikou wharf and levied the wharf tax on a large scale. In this way, it is like taking the wealth of the Jiangxi Gang and other businesses. The Jiangxi Gang held a grudge against Zhang and dared to be angry but did not dare to speak. The only way to get rid of this situation is to get rid of Zhang Benqing.
Who is going to do this? Yao Dabang loves money like life, and he has long been in their hands, so he is the most suitable candidate. So he spared no expense and secretly sent Yao dozens of white gauze horses and thousands of silver dollars. Yang Yongqing, the leader of the Zhijiang bandits, took advantage of the fire to rob, strongly supported Yao Dabang to get rid of Zhang Benqing, and gave him advice.
On February 14, 1949, when Longxikou was rushing to the scene, there were many people, Yao Dabang sent his right-hand men, Wu Yuqing (who was Zhang Benqing's subordinate) who was the captain of his bandit department, to sneak into Longxikou in disguise.
Yao Dabang also sent people to meet the places that must pass in and out of Longxikou, the land col of Yangjiaqiao, and the col of Longxikou. It didn't take long for Zhang Benqing to take a guard to Jiangxi Street, Zhang instructed him to do something, and the remaining Zhang came to the entrance of Binxing Street and bought cigarettes from a small stall, and Wu Yuqing, who was waiting here, shouted forward: "Brigade Commander Zhang, do you buy cigarettes?" ”
As soon as Zhang turned around, Wu Yuqing, who was dressed in a robe, pulled out a gun from under his inner elbow and aimed it at Zhang's temple, which was a "horn" shot, Zhang immediately fell to the ground, and then two more followers rushed out, and fired another shot at the back of Zhang's head and waist, and Zhang was killed instantly.
Then there was chaos in the streets, and there was a lot of noise, and the crowd shouted: "*It's ***...
Wu Yuqing and others took advantage of the chaos and fled in a hurry. Zhang Benqing, who wanted to do a career, was Yao Dabang's life-saving benefactor, so he died at Yao Dabang's hands.
As soon as Zhang died, Yao realized his dream of dominating Huang County. Soon, surrounded by some gentlemen and businessmen, he led his bandits to Longxikou to make a strong reputation. The 2nd Huang County Security Regiment was immediately established, and he served as the head of the regiment, and concurrently served as the deputy director of the Huang County Public Security Committee and the captain of the 1st Huang County Security Brigade.
But who would have thought that Yao, a cunning and sinister old fox, would not even let go of his cronies Wu Yuqing and Yao Guoan, who had followed him for many years. Wu was instructed by Yao Dabang to lead people to assassinate Zhang Benqing and eliminate the trouble in his heart. can be regarded as a great achievement, but he never thought that it was for this reason that he would be killed.
After Yao borrowed Wu's hand to assassinate Zhang, he always thought that Wu Yuqing was a bold person, and even his former boss Zhang Benqing dared to kill him, maybe sooner or later he would be poisoned by him. took advantage of the past to kill Wu Zhan's wife and daughter.
In 1949, the People's Liberation Army entered Huangxian County to suppress bandits, sounding the death knell of the bandits' demise. Pursued by the People's Liberation Army, the bandits were surrounded by many people. However, in order to obstruct the liberation of Xiangxi by the People's Liberation Army, Yang Yongqing, commander of the Zhijiang garrison and the head of the "revival of Chu and Han officials," went to Huang County twice in August and October 1949 to plot with Yao Dabang to expand the "Chu and Han gangs" and develop their banditry.
Yao greeted him as the leader of the "Chu Han Gang" in Huang County and the founder of the mountain, and Yang and Yao Er's bandits conspired to play the "Zhihuang Suppression of the Communist Guerrilla Corps", and Yao served as the deputy commander-in-chief, leading his bandit troops to hide in Zhangzhai in Yuping, Guizhou, and Liulong Mountain, the junction of Yuping, Wanshan, and Huang County, waiting for an opportunity to counterattack.
At this time, the People's ** and the People's Liberation Army carried out political struggle against Yao, using the progressive and Huangzhong teacher Hu Xiuyan (Yao was Hu's savior) to persuade him to surrender, asking him to recognize the situation and get closer to the people.
Once, after Hu Xiuyan did ideological work, Yao was willing to surrender. So after breakfast, he set out, and the sliding rod that carried him was ready. Because Yao has always loved to eat carp, the carp of the people in the village will be given to him.
At this time, a villager sent Yao two live carp, each weighing about two or three catties. The fish giver shouted: "Yao Gong, carp." The cunning and suspicious Yao Dabang, when he saw the carp, his face changed suddenly: "Damn, the carp is hooked, a bad omen." You can't go, you can't go".
In this way, he refused to fight for the PLA's political efforts and repeatedly sent people to persuade them. In order to persuade him to surrender, his eldest son Yao Yingke studied at Guiyang University earlier, accepted progressive ideas, and saw that since the People's Liberation Army entered Xiangxi, bandits in various places have been arrested.
persuaded Yao several times not to do it anymore and let go of **, in order to ask for leniency from the people. And Yao Dabang, who is stubborn and self-serving, once he recognizes something, no one can convince him, on the contrary, he will suffer.
Seeing his son's persuasion several times, Yao raised his eyebrows, stared at his round eyes, and said with the hideous face of the murderous demon king: "Rebel! Today, Lao Tzu will eat you. ”
Pull out the gun and hit Yao Yingke, at this critical moment, a minion next to him hurriedly raised Yao's hand holding the gun, "horn", the bullet flew towards the sky, and Yao Yingke saw that the momentum was not right, and hurriedly jumped off two Tiankan several feet high to escape.
After that, father and son parted ways. Yao Yingke secretly handed over to the People's Liberation Army 24 large and small guns given to Yao Dabang by the Kuomintang Huangxian County Party Department and fled to Guizhou to teach.
In the spring of 1950, Yao took advantage of the opportunity of the main force of the People's Liberation Army stationed in Huang to go to Huaihua to support the central area to focus on suppressing bandits, and united with Xiao Zonghuai, Pu Laocui, Yang Guozheng and other bandit leaders to lead more than 600 bandits to attack the county seat of Huangxian County, and was defeated by Wang Manchang, deputy head of the 419th Regiment of the People's Liberation Army, leading the defending troops.
In the autumn of 1950, Yao Dabang's main activities were in Banshan, Heiyanchang and other places in Yuping. Once, the county brigade caught a bandit named Huang Dongsheng, and Huang confessed that Yao hid in Banshan and Heiyanchang, and led the way to arrest him. The county brigade, together with more than 100 militiamen, rushed overnight, and when they arrived there, they learned that Yao Dabang led his troops to cross the river from the hotel pond on the first day and fled to Fuluo, Xinzhai, Umbrella and other places.
On August 30, more than 5,000 bandits on the Hunan and Guizhou borders gathered umbrellas (the bandits called Little Taiwan), and Yao was named "deputy commander of the ** guerrilla command in the Hunan and Guizhou border areas", in a vain attempt to fight to the death with the People's Liberation Army in the umbrella.
The rabble, how to withstand the blow of the People's Liberation Army, the battle of "snow and coolness", thousands of bandits were captured and annihilated, Yao fled from Longzhai in Xinzhai to Baoqing Bay. The People's Liberation Army bravely pursued the poor and fought in Qingwan, Yao's men and horses were almost lost, and all his belongings were lost.
His son, Yao Yingjin, was killed. Yao's wife Peng, son-in-law Yang Zongzhen, and uncle Long Yongan were captured alive, and Yao only took a few dozen bandits to escape, rushed to Zhongzhai, and then the harvest field, and fled to Shijiaping on Bozhou. Here some bandits were gathered, in a vain attempt to smuggle across the Wushui River here, and return to the old nest of Liulong Mountain to continue to do evil.
Due to the pursuit of the People's Liberation Army and local troops, the bandits were exhausted, fled day and night, did not eat for several days, and were in a state of embarrassment.
On the night of December 15, when the bandits fled to Shijiaping, Yao convened an emergency meeting of the bandit detachment commander and company commander to discuss the next countermeasure.
After that, he had a premonition that the end was coming, and Yao Dabang, who was majestic and majestic, fell from the corners of his eyes. The bandits were instructed to prepare to cross the river. At 12 o'clock in the evening, the smuggling began. Yao thought he was clever and could succeed without knowing it, but the news of his crossing of the river was learned in advance by the People's Liberation Army, and under the command of Yang Jianpei, secretary of the Huangxian County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, the troops and militia who intercepted and killed Yao were ambushed on the opposite bank of the river in Shijiaping.
When the two boatloads of bandits crossed into the river, the intercepting team opened fire, and the light pierced the silent night sky. The bandits on the ship panicked. A boat turned around and fled, and the boat Yao was riding was trampled on, and all the people on board fell into the river.
The next day, the militia salvaged more than 10 corpses from the river, among them, one of the corpses carried two fast and slow machines on the left and right, and after identification, this person was Yao Dabang, who was drowned.
Summary
People have a foothold in society, always need a little specialty, the bandits of the ** period are no exception, the living environment of the bandits is actually very bad, killing and being killed may be in the turn of the mind, the mountain fire, the encirclement and suppression, the regimental defense attack, either bigger and stronger, or abandoned in the wilderness, the head is cut off and taken to receive the reward.
The bandits that I wrote to us, Qu Bojie and Peng Chunrong became bigger, relying on a little morality, Wang Sanchun became bigger by balancing the forces of all parties, Zhang stammered by cruel deterrence, and Black Lama relied on religious cohesion and erratic whereabouts, so what did Yao Dabang rely on? He is definitely not because he is a running specialty, others can't catch him, no matter how fast he can't outrun the bullets, he can become big by relying on three words "shameless".
Repeatedly recruited, repeatedly defected, as soon as he got the equipment and ammunition, he immediately dragged the team up the mountain, first he also opened the so-called arsenal in Xinmin, Xuetangping and Zhangjiazhai and other places, it is estimated that it is a workshop, make some muskets and the like, and later found that Zhao'an is not too good, clothes and supplies are available, and the standard of a water **, so you see that later he didn't make muskets at home, he recruited people, and it didn't take long to recruit an army to the Kuomintang army, and the Kuomintang gave him ** for free, so as long as the thinking does not slip, There are always more ways than difficulties.
Written in the end, the author still has to say something, **China, rampant banditry As Liang Qichao said, the society at that time was "transitional China", and Chinese society, especially the vast rural society, was transforming from a closed and backward natural economy to a modern commodity economy, which caused the society to present an extremely unstable state, which is the breeding ground for bandits.
From the end of the Qing Dynasty to the first year, there was such a serious bandit problem among the people, not only in a corner of Xiangxi, but also in Guangxi, Yunnan, Fujian, Zhejiang, Northeast and other places.
For example, in today's Huang County, in 1931, a major flood, the number of victims in several neighboring counties reached 500,000, and the relief could not keep up, and the harsh taxes and miscellaneous taxes were still as much as a cow's hair, resulting in "mourning everywhere and waiting to be fed". Many people had to take risks in order to survive, so bandits swarmed and flooded. Otherwise, the political situation will be stable, the world will be peaceful and prosperous, the economy will be prosperous, and the transportation will be convenient, and naturally there will be no soil for bandits to breed.
