On June 28, 2020, the project launched the "Yuehai 36" under the Shiziyang shield. The picture shows the construction site of the B3 standard of the project under the Nansha Bridge in Dongguan.
The Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project starts from Liyuzhou in Shunde, the main stream of the Xijiang River in the west, passes through Shunde in Foshan and Nansha in Guangzhou, crosses Shiziyang, and then passes through Dongguan and reaches Gongming Reservoir in Shenzhen in the east, with a total investment of about 35.4 billion yuan and a total length of 1132 km, the design flow rate is 80 cubic meters per second, and the annual water supply is 170.8 billion cubic meters.
On October 21, 2022, 60 meters from the bottom of Shiziyang, under the B3 bid of the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project, workers were carrying out the construction of the prestressed lining.
After the project is opened to water, it will change the single water supply pattern of Nansha District of Guangzhou City, Shenzhen City and Dongguan City, greatly improve the water supply guarantee rate, and provide emergency backup water sources for Hong Kong, Panyu of Guangzhou, Shunde of Foshan and other places, and can also gradually return the ecological water of the Dongjiang Basin to further ensure the water supply security and ecological security of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

With an investment of more than 30 billion yuan, four and a half years, and more than 70,000 builders participating, how did such a huge project be built?
To build such a large pipe, we need to build 37 ultra-deep vertical working shafts along the way, and then put the shield machine down, yes, just like digging a tunnel or building a subway, multiple machines excavate at the same time.
In March 2020, the first shield machine of the project was launched, starting the tunnel excavation journey.
A total of 48 shield machines were "tailor-made" in the Pearl River Delta at 40-60 meters underground, overcoming multiple challenges such as large buried depth of the line, strong permeability of the surrounding rock, and difficult tool change on the seabed, and crossing 4 high-speed railways, 8 subways, 12 expressways, and 16 rivers, lakes and seas, and finally lasted 1,272 days to achieve the breakthrough of the water conveyance tunnel.
On March 29, 2023, in Shunde, Foshan, the main pumping room of the Liyuzhou Pumping Station of the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project was capped.
At the same time of tunneling, the water pipe should also be engaged in "fine decoration", that is, the lining construction of the water pipeline.
There are two ways to lin, one of which is a prefabricated steel pipe, which is transported to a tunnel for precision docking.
Another way is to pour prestressed concrete directly inside the tunnel to make water pipes on the spot. Compared with prefabricated steel pipes, it is necessary to resist 1The maximum water transmission pressure of 3 megapascals ensures that the water pipeline does not leak, which is more difficult.
On May 25, 2023, Guangdong Hydropower Equipment Group's production base in Zengcheng, Guangzhou, is producing lined steel pipes used in engineering water pipelines.
On October 31, 2023, the lining construction of the entire tunnel of the project will be completed. The picture shows that during the construction, the builder is welding the steel pipe joint.
In the end, the builders worked together to overcome a number of world-class problems such as long-distance deep-buried shield construction, high-pressure lining design and construction, wide-lift variable-speed water pump research and development, long-distance deep-buried pipeline maintenance, etc., and the world's largest long-distance pressurized water diversion project has been completed and opened to water.
On December 1, 2023, the water conveyance tunnel of the project started water filling commissioning, and Xijiang water was transported from the Liyuzhou pumping station to the east.
Now in the Gongming Reservoir in Shenzhen, we can already see the spring at the outlet of the project, which is the water of the Xijiang River that has come from a long journey.
On December 28, 2023, the project started joint commissioning across the board. The picture shows the Gongming Reservoir in Shenzhen, the terminal of the project.
On January 22, 2024, the water outlet of the Gongming Reservoir in Shenzhen is being debugged.
According to the plan, in the future, Guangdong's water conservancy "large-scale" transformation of mountains and rivers will continue, and make every effort to build a "five vertical and five horizontal" water resources allocation network backbone network, so as to provide a stronger water resource guarantee for the high-quality development of our province.
On January 30, 2024, the project was officially opened to water. The water of the Xijiang River runs from west to east and finally flows into the Gongming Reservoir in Shenzhen.
