A country must have popular morale, a person must have backbone, and an army must have morale. From ancient times to the present, the morale of an army is one of the key factors in the success of a war. Therefore, the morale of the army is very important for marching and fighting, and the counterattack against Vietnam is a war that every Chinese son and daughter will never forget.
Because in 1979, during China's time in Vietnam, the PLA experienced something that seriously affected morale. China at the beginning of the war with Vietnam, although each time the squadron occupied Vietnamese positions.
However, when cleaning up the battlefield, only a few Vietnamese remains were found, which is unconvincing. Could it be that only a few people of the Vietnamese army blocked a company of our army, and also killed and wounded many soldiers of the People's Liberation Army? This is clearly unconscionable.
As we all know, a brutal war is bound to bring inevitability**, but on the battlefield there are very few corpses of Vietnamese soldiers. This undoubtedly dampened the morale of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and made the soldiers lose confidence in defeating the enemy.
The soldiers conquered the Vietnamese defense line with the momentum of swallowing mountains and rivers, but when the soldiers were cleaning up the scene, they found that there was a huge difference between the casualties of the enemy and the squadron. Such a situation is incomprehensible, but we have to believe in the "facts", can the Vietnamese army really be able to defeat one by one?
Defend national dignity and fight back against Vietnam in self-defense.
There is an ancient saying in China since ancient times: "If people don't offend me, I won't offend anyone, and if people offend me, I will punish them."
With a history of 5,000 years, China has always been a country of etiquette. But when our nation is invaded by outsiders, we will also raise the banner to defend our national dignity.
In 1975, Vietnam was reunified, and Vietnam decided to establish diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. Subsequently, at the end of the 70s of the 20th century, a war broke out between China and Vietnam. Our country called this war a war of self-defense and counterattack against Vietnam, and it is known internationally as the Sino-Vietnamese War.
On February 14, 1979, the CCP publicly issued a notice on preparations for self-defense, and conveyed the order for the whole army to enter a state of first-class combat readiness to all army soldiers.
On February 17, 1979, the People** published an article entitled "Is it tolerable, but it is intolerable - from the Sino-Vietnamese border", exposing to the world the cruel crimes committed by the Vietnamese army on the Chinese border. The war was divided into two operational directions, Yunnan and Guangxi. The Yunnan operation was commanded by Yang Tezhi, commander of the Kunming Military Region, who was temporarily transferred, and the Guangxi operation was commanded by Xu Shiyou, commander of the Guangzhou Military Region.
The period from February 17, 1979 to February 26, 1979 was the first phase of the war against Vietnam.
Due to the fact that in the first phase of the operation against Vietnam, the 5-kilometer-deep garrison position set up by the squadron was constantly attacked, and the number of troops was very high. Therefore, the PLA took advantage of the gap between battles to sum up the experience of defeated wars in order to better understand and grasp the operational characteristics of jungle areas.
Later, the squadron made a careful deployment. The squadron attacked Cao Binh and Dong Dang from the east, Lao Cai and Tangtang from the west, and advanced 20 to 50 kilometers into Vietnam.
The Vietnamese army used local, public security and popular forces to resist in stages along the border. The Vietnamese infantry mainly engaged in mobile warfare, using space and time exchanges to maneuver with squadrons.
Although the fierce attack of Vietnam caused heavy losses to the squadron, it ended in defeat due to the lack of combat strength of Vietnam. Therefore, our army has successfully completed the first stage of the combat mission of self-defense and counterattack against Vietnam.
The Vietnamese army hid the remains in a vain attempt to attack the Chinese army
In 1979, China began a self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, from February 17 to March 16, in less than a month, the squadron invested 500,000 troops and a large number of equipment in this war.
The People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) has also achieved remarkable results in this campaign. Well, how many enemies did our army crush in this campaign? At that time, it was conservatively believed that the number of Vietnamese people was more than 200,000, although the Vietnamese army claimed that there were only 100,000. However, according to the records of our army, at least 400,000 people of the Vietnamese army at that time were killed as a result of shelling. What is the reason for the Vietnamese army's lying about the death toll? It's really puzzling.
The Vietnamese army is mainly composed of three parts, namely the main army, the local army and the militia. Therefore, in the statistics of our army, in addition to the main force such as the 316th Division, there are other armed forces, such as the local armed forces, as well as some public security forces and militias involved in the battle.
The number of people counted by our army is mostly based on the number of dead bodies on the battlefield, so the statistics are relatively accurate.
However, the Vietnamese army used insidious tactics to remove or bury the remains of their comrades on the battlefield. Their main purpose in doing this is not only to hide the soldiers' **, but also to try in vain to weaken the morale of our army.
In fact, at the beginning of the war, the Vietnamese army's conspiracy to hide the remains of the fallen soldiers in a vain attempt to undermine the morale of our army almost succeeded. Our army was not able to discover the conspiracy of the Vietnamese army at first, but it was incomprehensible that after the end of various actual battles, when cleaning up the battlefield, it was found that there were too few dead bodies of the Vietnamese army, which was fundamentally disproportionate to the results of the reconnaissance before the war and the tragic degree of the fighting between the two sides.
At that time, our army was fighting for the capture of Kam Tang in Vietnam. The 316th Division of the Vietnamese Army was sent to support Gantang, and the task of the 39th Division of our Army was to snipe the Vietnamese soldiers.
It's a tough battle. Since the squadron's combat area is the western front of Yunnan, this is the main defensive area of the Vietnamese army. At that time, the combat strength and technical and tactical level of the Vietnamese army were relatively high, and if we wanted to win this battle, our army would have to pay a heavy price.
On the morning of the 17th, the squadron launched a fierce attack on Vietnam. In this battle, our troops not only overcame 4 trenches in the highland defensive positions of the Vietnamese army, but also captured 2 127 mm anti-aircraft machine gun and 2 Soviet heavy machine guns.
In the conflict with the main peak of the highlands, the ** and bullets of the two armies dyed the bright sky red, and the intensity of the battle can be seen.
The entire highland at the scene was full of fire, as if it were day, and the smell of war filled the entire highland. This brutal war was both hard and fierce, and it was clear that the fighters on both sides were extremely heavy.
But when the war ended, when the soldiers cleaned up the ruins of the site, they found a strange thing. Because the soldiers found a lot of ** equipment and other things in the Vietnamese army, but there were only six corpses of Vietnamese soldiers.
When the soldiers saw the scene in front of them, they were full of doubts, but they had to believe the "facts" they saw. Therefore, the command regiment had to give an explanation that the remnants of the enemy had fled south from the northern slope of the heights.
This phenomenon continues, and it sets the stage for the confidence of the fighters. After searching and clearing Heights 30, our fighters still did not find the remains of Vietnamese soldiers.
After a careful search, the soldiers seized a large number of guns, ammunition and equipment, but only one remains of a Vietnamese soldier were found on the high ground. Even with the addition of the 4 Vietnamese soldiers who were secretly killed, the losses of the enemy and mine are incomparable.
Therefore, this situation objectively cast a great shadow on the thinking of all the soldiers of our army and shook our army's confidence in victory.
The conspiracy surfaced, and the truth of the fog was revealed
After many battles between the two armies, the squadron experienced the insidious cunning of the Vietnamese army in its self-defense against Vietnam. At the end of each battle, the soldiers cleared the battlefield after the fall of the high ground, expecting it to have a good effect, but the actual effect was very different.
The corpses of Vietnamese soldiers on the battlefield were only a handful, which made the Chinese soldiers very puzzled. However, in the later battles, the conspiracy of the Vietnamese army surfaced, and the layers of fog were finally revealed.
On the morning of February 22, 1979, Chinese soldiers were reconnoitring in a covered forest when they suddenly encountered three armed Vietnamese searchers. In order to gain the strategic initiative, the Chinese soldiers immediately concealed themselves on the spot and turned to the enemy. One of the Vietnamese soldiers was shot in the head on the spot, and the other two Vietnamese soldiers hurriedly turned around and ran down the mountain.
The reconnaissance team immediately followed the enemy down the hill and continued the search in the nearby forest. Due to the lack of experience in positional support and infantry cover, the scouts eventually searched for nothing, so they had to return to find the killed Vietnamese soldiers.
However, strange things happened. When the soldiers returned to the place where the battle had taken place, the bodies of the Vietnamese soldiers disappeared without a trace, although the blood on the ground was still visible. The soldiers were amazed, why did the corpse disappear into thin air? Where the hell did the corpse go? The soldiers present were full of doubts, but they were puzzled.
The soldiers continued their search with doubts, and at last they found new soil in a hollow of bushes. One of the Chinese soldiers gently brushed away the dirt with a wooden stick in his hand, revealing the corpse of a Vietnamese soldier.
Later, the reconnaissance team talked about the incident as a joke with the soldiers. But the soldiers did not think it was an ordinary thing, they thought it was most likely a trick of the Vietnamese army.
As a result, the reconnaissance team promptly reported the anomaly to their superiors. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the situation, the army commander finally came to the conclusion that the Vietnamese army wanted to undermine the morale of our army.
In order to test this suspicion, the army chiefs immediately ordered the 125th Regiment of the Reserve to search and exhum the remains of the soldiers at the Bapo battlefield. Sure enough, the chiefs' guesses were confirmed.
The remnants have seen the light of day, and the morale of our army has greatly increased
The soldiers are very fast, and the efficiency of our army has always been very high. In 1979, our soldiers found the remains of Vietnamese soldiers in the hollows of the bushes for the first time, and then on February 27 of the same year, in just five days, the 4th Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 125th Infantry Regiment of our army dug up 22 Vietnamese corpses hidden by the enemy on the highland battlefield.
It was also on this day that our soldiers excavated 34 bodies of Vietnamese soldiers hidden by the Vietnamese side on the south side of the highland battlefield. The results of these searches convinced our army that the cunning Vietnamese side must have buried more bodies in those previous engagements.
Therefore, our army did not relax its search for the remains of Vietnamese troops in the slightest.
On March 2, 1979, our army made another new discovery. They searched on the side of Highway 8 on Heights 391 that day, and when they searched for a cave, they found the remains of 75 Vietnamese soldiers in the cave.
Some time has passed since the fighting, and the remains in the cave have begun to emit a foul smell.
There is also a small story about the 75 bodies found in the cave. After the war, the two divisions of our army had some arguments over whose number of enemies these 75 Vietnamese corpses should be counted in.
Because at that time this cave was the battle demarcation line and junction of the two divisions on the section of Route 8. It is said that the 75 corpses were originally scheduled to be divided into two divisions, but in the end, they were all counted in the division of the soldiers who searched the cave.
But these are all afterwords, and they are also small episodes. The most important thing is that through this incident, the morale of our army has been greatly increased. After learning about the characteristics of the Vietnamese army, the Chinese People's Liberation Army not only felt much happier, but also increased their confidence in defeating the enemy, and regarded the behavior of the Vietnamese army's hidden soldiers as a joke.
After the war, it was ascertained that the 124th Infantry Regiment of our army killed a total of 389 people, including squad leaders and platoon commanders, including 23 squad leaders and platoon commanders, in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam.
And our army captured a large amount of ** equipment and military supplies during the war.
Through this war, China not only restored tranquility on the southern border, but also took back the disputed border area and obtained a satisfactory land border. The self-defense counterattack not only tempered the squadron, but also guided the direction for the modernization of the squadron in the future. The perfidious Vietnam was also affected by this war as never before.
During the battle, the Vietnamese army used the way of burying soldiers to cause trouble to the squadron, so as to achieve a blow to the morale of the squadron. There is no doubt that this is a very insidious trick.
For this war, no matter what the purpose of the Vietnamese army is to hide the corpses of soldiers, the impact on our army is immeasurable. At the same time, it can be seen not only that the Vietnamese army is not an idle person, but also that the squadron has superb combat skills.
Conclusion:
Therefore, this also tells us that the morale of the fighters on the field is very important for an army. The ancients said: "One drum of strength, then decline, three and exhaustion", which proves the importance of the army to morale.
At the same time, it also shows that the truth will always be revealed in the fog, and justice will triumph over darkness.
Today, when we relive the smoke and smoke of that war, we feel that we cherish the hard-won peace.
Those PLA soldiers who have been sleeping on the border for a long time, their blood-stained demeanor makes us more deeply understand the sacredness of soldiers. Therefore, we must remember history, cherish the memory of revolutionary martyrs, and work together to build a better homeland.
