On the evening of January 9, the 2024 Dongguan Zhangmutou Town Qilin Dance Competition was staged in Binhe Park. Eight unicorn teams from the whole town competed on the same field to further promote the construction of a "culturally strong town" and the innovative development of Zhangmutou Qilin culture and art, promote cultural tourism consumption, and help rural revitalization.
The competition kicked off with the unicorn dance "Qilin Dance Xianrui" selected by the Baidi community. Subsequently, the traditional or innovative unicorn dance choreographed by the unicorn teams of Yufeng, Zhangyang, Baiguodong, Shixin, Guancang, Zhangluo and Jinhe communities was staged one after another, and a wonderful program presented an all-round audio-visual feast to the audience through the artistic means of unicorn ** and unicorn dance.
According to reports, the Zhangmutou unicorn dance has a history of more than 450 years, and with the development and growth of the unicorn dance team, the performance venue has also moved from a small world to a big stage. Zhangmutou Qilin Dance has been to the Guangzhou Asian Games, to the Shanghai World Expo, to the Beijing Olympic Games, and even went abroad to be invited to Canada to carry out folk art exchange activities, the influence at home and abroad, is listed as the national "intangible cultural heritage" protection project, Zhangmutou Town has also been named "the hometown of China's unicorn" and "the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art", is the only provincial intangible cultural heritage base of Qilin dance in Dongguan City.
A member of the Baiguodong community said, "The unicorn dance has been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years, so this competition tells the inheritance of three generations in the form of a story, and tells more people about Zhangmutou's own culture, and I believe that this event will definitely let more people understand the Qilin culture of Zhangmutou." ”
The propaganda department of Zhangmutou Town said that the unicorn teams of each community in this unicorn dance competition competed on the same stage, focusing on the new inheritance of Hakka unicorn dance, which is a big parade of the national intangible cultural heritage project of "unicorn dance", and it is also a big display of the style of the unicorn teams in each community, which will effectively promote the construction and development of "cultural strong town".
After the on-site evaluation and scoring by experts, the first, second and third prizes were awarded, among which the Guancang Community Kirin Team won the first prize.
