Lenovo unveils the ThinkPad T series of laptops with the Core Ultra, a new mold

Lenovo has announced the new ThinkPad T-series laptops, including the ThinkPad T14 Gen 5, ThinkPad T14S Gen 5, and ThinkPad T16 Gen 3, among others. The ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 have improved serviceability, while the ThinkPad T14S Gen 5 is thinner and lighter.

Let's start with the ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 3, and to verify their progress in modularity, Lenovo put it to the test on iFixit, a professional teardown platform, and got a 9A maintainability score of 3 out of 10.

Internally, a repluggable dual memory module slot supports up to 64GB DDR5 memory, while the battery is also modular, meaning it's easier for users to replace the part themselves. To achieve this, Lenovo has adopted a "click-through connector" inside instead of a regular cable. There are also changes to the exterior design, with the ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 redesigning the keyboard with a replacement for the FN Ctrl key, a new Windows Co-Pilot key menu key, tactile markings on the keyboard, and the speakers have also been moved from the top to the sides. In addition, to further narrow the bezels of the screen, the overall design is similar to that of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon G12, while the raised part at the top of the screen houses the camera and microphone.

In terms of core configuration, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 is available with Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen 8040U processors, while the ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 is only available in the Core Ultra version. There's also optional WiFi 7 and Sub6 5G LTE, as well as an optional 120Hz OLED screen. For the standard WUXGA screen, covered with a new 3M optical film, thanks to which the brightness is increased to 400 CDM and the power consumption is reduced.

Then there is the higher-positioned ThinkPad T14S, which is only available in the Core version, which is close to the ThinkPad X1 Carbon G11 in appearance, thanks to the new design of the body, which is thinner and lighter than the previous generation, you can see that there are obvious changes in the hinge of the fuselage, and the keyboard has also been changed like the T14.

In terms of configuration, it is equipped with a Core Ultra processor and up to 64GB LPDDR5X memory. The original 2The 8K OLED screen has been upgraded from 60Hz to 120Hz, and the standard WUXGA screen is covered with a new 3M optical film.
