In 1945, at the age of 16, he joined the Eighth Route Army and became an anti-Japanese fighter in the 17th Detachment of the Luliang Army Division. During the War of Liberation, especially during the Taiyuan Liberation Campaign, he participated in the battles in Yeyu, Langpo Mountain and other places, and performed very bravely, so he was awarded a first-class meritorious service.
And when the Korean War broke out in June 1950, ** and many high-level CCP leaders decided to resist US aggression and aid Korea. Since October, some volunteer soldiers have entered the Korean War, and Hangdan is one of them.
