In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency in his studio, Karnstedt said: "I think the composition of the whole picture with a dragon is very good. ”
Karnstedt's emphasis on the tradition of life is reflected in her paper-cut work, and this piece is no exception. She told reporters that after the typical Swiss traditions, such as cheese, pastures, wooden houses and cows, were presented, "an idea came to my mind: to surround all this with the image of a dragon, to surround the friendship between China and Switzerland." The theme I want to show is friendship, which is love."
Dragons have different symbolic meanings in Eastern and Western cultures. "The dragon is worshipped in China, it is a royal symbol, while in the West, the dragon is very scary to us. ”
Based on his knowledge and understanding of the Chinese dragon, Karnstedt gives the dragon a positive image in his works. "I put a dragon together with a heart pattern to show the kindness of the dragon," she says. ”

According to relevant sources, since the 17th century, many genres of paper-cutting have been popular in Switzerland, including religious images and silhouette portraits. Karnstedt told reporters that in the Peydangou region, people invented paper-cutting during the winter slack, and often made bookmarks into bookmarks and sandwiched them in the books they were reading.
Château dété is one of the important birthplaces of traditional Swiss paper-cutting. Karnstedt said that before the Chinese New Year of the Dragon, the Swiss Embassy in China wrote to the Peidão Museum and the Swiss Paper-cutting Center in Dayburg, asking the latter to share some paper-cut works to show the friendly relations between the two countries. Karnstedt gladly accepted the invitation, and thus had the above-mentioned Chinese New Year of the Dragon Chinese New Year work. She created two identical Chinese New Year works for the Year of the Dragon, one for exhibition at the Swiss Embassy in Beijing, and one for her studio.
I'm going to put this piece on display throughout the year at the Peydangou Museum and the Swiss Paper-cutting Centre, highlighting the close ties between Switzerland and China. Karnstedt said.
Karnstedt had never been to China. "I know that China has granted Switzerland visa-free treatment, so that we Swiss can easily visit your country. Karnstedt told reporters, "China has always been imprinted in my heart, and there are beautiful things that attract me, and if I go to China one day, I will record them."
