Men s Tennis Olympic Points Xiaode leads, Sinner chases, and Shang Juncheng enters the top 100

With just a few months to go until the Paris Olympics, Novak Djokovic remains firmly at the top of the Olympic standings.

Since the official calculation of Olympic points in mid-June last year, the Serbian star has accumulated 7,360 points. Most of those points came from the four major championships in the second half of last season.

He won two Masters titles (Cincinnati and Paris) and won his 24th Grand Slam title at the US Open. In addition, he also won the ATP Finals for a record 7th time.

The 36-year-old has not had a good start to 2024. His Serbian side were eliminated by Australia in the United Cup. He then failed to defend his title at the Australian Open, where he was held out of the final by Sinner. However, even though he has been on a break recently, he is unlikely to slip off the top of the Olympic standings this month.

His closest opponent is Sinner, who has 6,225 points so far. The Italian has a chance to close the gap on the German, but will not be able to surpass it, as he will only compete in one tournament this month, the Rotterdam Open, with a maximum of 500 points.

Alcaraz is in 3rd place with 5080 points. After winning Wimbledon last season and finishing runners-up in Cincinnati, the Spaniard led the table for months, but a long title drought cost him the top spot.

He is followed by Russian star Dmitry Medvedev (4,635 points), and last Olympic champion Zverev is in fifth place with 3,680 points, followed by Rublev.

The remaining four in the top 10 are Hurkacz, Dimitrov, De Minaur and Shelton. Greece's Tsitsipas dropped to 14th, but he is his country's No. 1 and has a lot of hope of qualifying for the Olympics.

There are two Chinese players in the top 100, Zhang Zhizhen in 47th place and Shang Juncheng in 87th place.

According to the qualification rules, the top 56 players in the standings will qualify for the Olympics by June 10 this year.
