On January 11 this year, three colorful copies of "The Birth of the Monkey King", "Borrowing Treasure from the Dragon Palace" and "Huang Fengling" were released at the Beijing Book Ordering Fair.

From 1956 to 1962, a set of 26 copies of Hebei Fine Arts' "Journey to the West" brought together many famous artists from the north and south, and has always been a classic of Liantan. Hebei Westward Journey has already formed a brand effect, and for many years, Hebei Club has been developing new forms and new methods for this Westward Journey, and this color Westward Journey project is one of them.

Let's take a look at the three that debuted.

The first three books of Xuan paper color Journey to the West.

This series is all 32 open rice paper books (non-imitation Xuan), the cover is made of silk material, full color. The cover and inner pages are all re-drawn and colored by Liu Xueqiang, a well-known color artist, on the basis of the original master, which is expensive.

Giveaway hard card. A hard card giveaway will be glued to the back of each copy.

Originals of the inner pages. The Birth of the Monkey King was first published in 1956 and was painted by Zhang Shude.

Zhang Shude (1926-1968), graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the National Beiping Art School, or Xu Beihong's proud son, when the Hebei Society organized this set of Journey to the West, he served as the team leader, his paintings are elegant and neat, old to pure, and the artistic attainments are very high. Later, he suffered an unfair encounter, the evening was miserable, his talent and fame were buried, and his life was miserable, which is embarrassing.

The Birth of the Monkey King" cover.

The rice paper book follows the binding of the right turn, and the silk on the cover has a good texture, and it feels a little hard when you read it in your hand.

Each copy is numbered in a limited edition and stamped with an exclusive stamp for the purpose of return.

The title page is accompanied by an old cover painting. Wukong first followed the Tao, then the Buddha, in this book he is still dressed as a Taoist, this is when he was a teenager, clever and lively. (All of them are painted by Liu Xueqiang according to the original works, re-drawn lines, and colored, and the effect of these two paintings is great).

Once upon a time, there was a mountain of flowers and fruits, and the top of the mountain secretly cultivated immortals.

The text of the Xuan paper book is all vertically arranged, and the first book mainly focuses on the zoo, and most of the appearances are Huaguoshan monkeys.

The Monkey King was the boss, and he was so uncomfortable that he was having fun every day, and one day he suddenly burst into tears, and he thought: no matter how happy his life is, it will come to an end, and he will be under the control of Hades. (The monkey king has this concern, and so do we, humans.) )

The group of monkeys in Huaguo Mountain are all **, and they seem to be all male monkeys.

The Monkey King crossed the ocean, and the scholar dressed and walked, stripping an innocent civilian.

Finally found a fairy cave. (The mountain stone can be blue-green, but at first glance, it feels that the green area is too large).

This fairy child's eyes are a little problematic, too fierce, and his Dao heart is not strong.

Wukong began a crazy cultivation career, gags, naughty and cute.

Patriarch Bodhi secretly taught him the method of 72 changes to avoid the three calamities. (The monkeys in Hebei Westward Journey are more like beasts, with their mouths and noses protruding outward, and the patriarch's lips are a bit girly).

After completing his studies, he returned to the mountain, and he was meeting the demon king of the mixed world, and the two fought fiercely.

The two eyes of this monkey are not in line with each other, and his expression is distracted.

The second volume is still Zhang Shude's work, and I feel that the color effect is better than the first volume.

The cover of "Borrowing Treasure from the Dragon Palace".

It is also included in the cover repainting of the past dynasties, and it has a different feeling from the color cover from afar, which is indescribable.

Old cover. The little monkey in Huaguo Mountain began to practice, and the brain melon seeds were round and very cute.

First go to the country of Aolai and look for weapons.

After Wukong practiced, he alarmed the demon kings of the seventy-two caves, and they offered treasures, all of which were necessary to be kings.

Go into the sea to hunt for treasure and find the old dragon king.

The old dragon king gave the machete. (The color effect of the fish essence with the knife is great, and the dragon king's clothing pattern is also a highlight).

Seeing the Ruyi golden hoop stick given away like this, the dragon king was very remorseful.

Although the composition reference is that of an old painter, Liu Xueqiang's coloring work is not easy, for example, these two fish spirits have no skin color in the original work, they are pure white, and they must use their imagination to make them three-dimensional.

This is the death angle of the photo, it looks like a big belly, and it is ugly for anyone to take it, but Wukong is quite handsome.

got the super ** golden hoop stick, the four seas and thousands of mountains are arched, and the snake spirits on the ground are wearing human clothes and are also worshipping Wukong, they are less than five hundred years old, and they can't change into human bodies.

Wukong made friends with the Bull Demon King and other big demons, obviously worshipping the Bull Demon King as his eldest brother, but he looked down on the old cow, and the old grandson you floated.

Back cover of "Borrowing Treasure from the Dragon Palace".

Huang Fengling was first published in 1959 by Chi Zhenya.

Chi Zhenya (1921-1991) was born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, his picture performance is very creative, readers have mixed reviews for him, he painted 5 books for the entire set of Hebei Journey to the West, as well as "Counting the Thief Zijin Bell" and "Tight Hoop Spell", etc., it took less than a year.

When he painted this "Huang Fengling", his ideas were very creative, but his techniques were not very skilled, and his taste and brushwork gradually improved.

Huang Fengling" cover.

I like this seal very much, it is quaint and tasteful: Wukong raised his stick to fight, the weasel obediently lay on the ground, and Lingji Bodhisattva stepped in to stop it.

The three of them encountered a big tiger, and Tang Seng was so frightened that he fell off the horse.

Bajie singled out the tiger.

Ji Zhenya likes to use arcs to enhance momentum.

Bajie lost his master, and his butt collapsed on the ground, tears rolling down.

Bajie rose up and went down to the account.

Goku kills Tiger Vanguard and throws him straight to the hole. (Tiger Pioneer has a serene expression, like a sleeping baby).

The Yellow Wind Monster appears, followed by a group of primitives.

Goku's hairy incarnation is invincible, but vulnerable to the wind.

I don't know if this one is printed, the color is particularly elegant, but it is particularly entertaining.

Wukong injured his eye, met the Bodhisattva to cure his eye disease, and woke up early in the morning. In a very quiet and peaceful morning, Bajie slept happily.

These three new books are generally not bad, Liu Xueqiang's coloring ability is in the first echelon in the original world of Liantan, and he has also colored Renmei's "Yang Jiajiang", Tianjin "Liao Zhai", Shangmei's "Red Mansion", etc., all of which have achieved good market response. I think that the kung fu of the fine brush and color is already very skillful and the skills are outstanding, but the portrayal of the characters still needs to be improved, especially the journey to the west in Hebei, the image created by the old painter itself is a different kind of brute force, so that when reading, I feel that the protagonist is very handsome for a while and ugly for a while.

The scene of the launch ceremony in Beijing on January 11.

Director Zhang Yongming, director of the editing room of Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House, edited and designed this set of books, Director Zhang said that this project originated from his thinking about the development direction of the world, and the development of the first should be aimed at teenagers. Hebei "Journey to the West" is a classic of the predecessors of painters, at that time various conditions (high cost of creation and printing) could not meet the publication of color ***, its ultimate should be full-color rice paper, so I decided to develop a color version of "Journey to the West".

After a series of comparative arguments, he believes that Liu Xueqiang's fine brush color is rich enough to best adapt to rice paper printing. In fact, the Hebei Society is very strict in reviewing these color sketches, and it is also a good book, hoping to create a high-quality color *** so that more children like it.

Regarding the follow-up of this series, Director Zhang revealed that 11 volumes are planned to be published this year, and the painting is a slow effort, the time is short, and the task is heavy, and the Hebei Society also hopes that more outstanding artists will participate in this project.

Re-drawing and coloring the classic old *** is the fashion of Liantan in recent years. Xiao Wei is happy to see this form come true, however, this is very challenging for the painter, not only to restore the charm of the master's original line drawing, but also to make it into the color, become bright and moving, intuitive and eye-catching, suitable for all ages, the average painter is really not competent.

In the end, whether to turn decay into magic, or to turn magic into decay, leave it to the reader's comment.

I hope to see more wonderful high-quality coloring in the future***
