What does the government research office do?

The research office is an internal institution set up at all levels in China to be responsible for comprehensive policy research, decision-making consultation, document drafting and research on important topics.

Its main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.Policy Research & Drafting Documents:

Drafting work reports, annual plan reports and other important documents to provide a theoretical basis and policy framework for decision-making.

According to the instructions of the leaders, write and revise important policy documents, draft laws and regulations, and speeches of leaders independently or jointly with relevant departments.

2.Decision advisory services:

Conduct in-depth investigation and research on major issues in regional economic and social development, analyze development trends, potential risks, and put forward targeted policy suggestions and solutions.

Assist the department in formulating or improving economic and social development strategies and medium and long-term development plans, and provide intellectual support for scientific decision-making.

3.Information collection and analysis:

Collect domestic and foreign economic and social development trends, important policy information and research results, analyze and sort out, and form a report to provide reference for leadership decision-making.

Statistical analysis of economic and social development data, evaluation of policy implementation effect, and provision of basis for performance management and improvement of policies.

4.Expert Advice & Cooperation:

Organize or coordinate expert teams to conduct research on special topics, and rely on platforms such as expert advisory committees to invite experts and scholars to participate in decision-making consultations. Communicate and cooperate with other research institutions, university think tanks, etc., and introduce external wisdom resources to serve the best decision-making.

5.Other Duties:

Participate in or be responsible for the preparation of major meetings, including the drafting and review of meeting documents.

Complete other tasks assigned by superiors, such as the research and development and maintenance of urban operation monitoring and management system, the shooting and production of first-class materials, etc.

In short, the research laboratory is a key think tank in the decision-making process, and is committed to improving the scientificity and effectiveness of decision-making.
