The 2024-2025 National Men's Bridge Team and National Women's Bridge Training Team Trials ended on February 3 at the Nanyuan Hotel in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and all the selected members of the two teams were immediately selected. Guo Yujun, deputy director of the Chess and Card Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China, vice chairman and secretary general of the China Bridge Association, made a mobilization speech on the theme of "the motherland in my heart" and strengthened the ideological and moral construction of the national team, and put forward requirements for the construction of the new national team.
The competition lasted for 6 days, sponsored by the Chess and Card Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China and the China Bridge Association, and undertaken by the Ningbo National Fitness Guidance Center, the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Haishu District, Ningbo, and the Ningbo Bridge Association. Among them, the men's team adopts the form of whole team selection, with a total of 8 participating teams, namely Jinshuo, Pude, Shijiazhuang City, Shenzhen Nangang Power, Athletic World, Zhejiang Nuohui, Zhejiang Qiantang, and Beijing Hengzhou.
The tournament consists of 3 rounds of elimination, each round divided into 6 quarters and 96 decks of cards. Jinshuo Bridge Club, Zhejiang Qiantang, Athletic World, and Shijiazhuang City defeated their opponents respectively to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Shijiazhuang City and Zhejiang Qiantang eliminated Jinshuo and Athletic World respectively to reach the final.
It is worth mentioning that the Shijiazhuang team is composed of Lian Ruoyang, Lian Yong, Li Jie, Zhang Yongge, Sun Gang and Cai Yang, all of whom are medalists in the men's team competition of the 5th National Intelligent Games Bridge Competition, of which Lian Ruoyang and Lian Yong won the bronze medal on behalf of the Jiangsu men's team last year, and Li Jie, Zhang Yongge, Sun Gang and Cai Yang won the gold medal on behalf of the Hebei team. Zhejiang Qiantang is composed of Liu Jing, Zhao Chen, Zhuang Zejun and Hu Junjie.
In the finals, Shijiazhuang City team and Zhejiang Qiantang fierce competition, each other did not give in, the first quarter Shijiazhuang City team won the first place 53-19, the second quarter Zhejiang Qiantang won 26-25, the third quarter Shijiazhuang City team won 52-38, Zhejiang Qiantang in the fourth quarter 47-17 to pull back a quarter, and narrowed the gap between the two sides. In the fifth quarter, Zhejiang Qiantang once overtook the score, but the Shijiazhuang team continued to exert its strength and won the fifth quarter 61-36. In the final quarter, the Shijiazhuang City team went all out and won again, winning 257-19756 wins, as desired to get the new cycle of the national men's team qualification.
After two stages of competition, the top four in the final points ranking are Yuan Xuefang Zuo Xiaoxue of JJ competition, Wang Jian Liao Zhengjiang of Reignwood Zhiyun, Liu Yan Zhao Lin of Shandong Women's Team and Wang Nan Guo Ke of Jiangsu Chess Academy, and four pairs of combinations were successfully selected into the National Women's Bridge Training Team.
