On February 10, 2024, the "Happy New Year" Year of the Dragon Road Run, hosted by the Wenzhou Association of Spain, was grandly held in the Cobo Calleja Industrial Zone, Fuenlabrada City, Madrid. H.E. Mr. Yao Jing, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Spain, Mr. Francisco J**ier Ayala Ortega, Mayor of Fuenlabada, Mr. Zheng Xiaoguang, President of Wenzhou Association of Spain, and Mr. Juan Agustín Domínguez, Head of the Sports Department of Fuenlabada, Mr. J**ier Pérez Martínez, Chairman of the Management Committee of Cobo Calleja, Mr. Juan Antonio Ortiz, Vice Chairman, Li Xinyu, Overseas Committee Member of the Chinese Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Vanity, Spain, and representatives of various fraternal overseas Chinese groups, overseas Chinese businessmen and enterprises attended the event and witnessed this sports event.

The event attracted the active participation of nearly 1,000 Chinese and Western sports enthusiasts. At 10 a.m., the contestants gathered at the starting point of the main street in the industrial area of Cobo Calleja. Before the competition, the organizing committee of the competition specially organized a wonderful lion dance performance, and the majestic lion dance dragon soared in the sound of gongs and drums, and the dance meant auspiciousness.

H.E. Mr. Yao Jing, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Spain, Mr. Francisco J**ier Ayala Ortega, Mayor of Fuenlabada, Mr. Zheng Xiaoguang, President of the Wenzhou Association of Spain, and Mr. J**ier Pérez Martínez, Chairman of the Management Committee of Cobo Calleja, put the spotlight on the lion dance. Ambassador Yao Jing sent Chinese New Year greetings to all Chinese and Western people before the competition, and at the same time, he wished all the participants good results and good health in the competition.
Mayor Francisco J**ier Ayala Ortega said in his speech that the Cobo Calleja Industrial Zone is of great significance to Fuenlabrada City, and the Chinese living and working here are diligent and enthusiastic, and he fully affirmed that the Wenzhou Association of Spain organized and hosted the "Happy Spring Festival" Dragon Year Road Run, and said that in the future, the city will continue to pay attention to and support the integration and development of Chinese.
Ambassador Yao Jing and Mayor Francisco J**ier Ayala Ortega then gave the order for the competition. In the sound of the horn, the 2024 "Happy New Year" Year of the Dragon Road Run officially began. In order to adapt to competitors of different ages and fitness levels, the competition has specially designed two routes, 5km and 10km, each with three age groups for men and women.

The 5-kilometre route is held around the Cobo Calleja Industrial Zone, with nearly 600 participants, including employees of Chinese companies working in the Cobo Calleja Industrial Zone, residents living in Fuenlabrada and surrounding towns, and sports enthusiasts who have travelled from the city of Madrid. Some contestants said in an interview that they have worked in the Cobo Calleja Industrial Zone for many years, but they have never had the same experience of running around the industrial zone with so many people as they do today, not only taking advantage of this opportunity to exercise and fitness, but also giving themselves a deeper affection for the Cobo Calleja Industrial Zone.

Most of the 10km route goes around the industrial area of Cobo Calleja, and some sections go deep into suburban parks, which makes the route more complicated. For the 10km race, the route is more interesting and challenging. Some Spanish runners said that they usually run and exercise, and when they knew that this year's "Happy New Year" Year of the Dragon Road Run was held in the Cobo Calleja Industrial Zone, they immediately signed up, not only to participate in such a sports event, but also to celebrate the Chinese New Year with their Chinese friends.

After the intense competition, the champions, runners-up and runners-up of each participating group were on the podium at the award ceremony, and they received the trophies and prizes symbolizing honor from the guests, and the atmosphere reached a climax.

The original intention of the 2024 "Happy New Year" Year of the Dragon Road Run is to give back to the local community in the form of public welfare, and all the registration fees for the competition were donated to the AFAMSO public welfare organization by the Wenzhou Association of Spain. Ms. Carmen Molina, President of AFAMSO Charity Organization, received the donation plaque from President Zheng Xiaoguang and took a group photo with the leaders of the Wenzhou Association in Spain. Ms. Carmenmolina expressed her gratitude to the Wenzhou Association of Spain for its kindness, and hoped that the association would continue to serve as a bridge and link between China and Spain in the future, as well as public welfare and charity.
