According to the latest approved technology patents, the future communication between iPhones can do without Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and Apple plans to use Li-Fi to allow users to "AirDrop".
It is understood that Apple has recently obtained a technology patent called "Optical Structure in Directional Free Space Optical Communication Systems for Portable Electronic Devices", which mentions "using this optical communication system to improve data transmission".
According to the patent information, as long as the two devices are close together and aligned with each other, optical communication is more secure and faster than traditional Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Compared to traditional device-to-device data communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth, Li-Fi can increase data transfer rates (from gigabits per second to terabytes per second), improve data transfer privacy, and improve data transfer security.
In addition, Apple says that in addition to mobile phones, tablets, laptops and desktops, the patent can be applied to aviation, marine, submarine or land vehicle control devices or network equipment.
