But then because Guan Yu carelessly lost Jingzhou and was killed by Eastern Wu, and Liu Bei did not listen to the dissuasion of his ministers because of his brotherly love, he insisted on launching a war against Wu, and as a result, he was defeated and Yiling, and finally died of illness in the White Emperor City in the third year of Zhangwu (223), and was called Emperor Zhaolie and buried in Huiling.
