In order to let everyone know more about the study abroad institutions in the Philippines, today we will take you to see the development history of the University of the Philippines Cebu Campus!
The University of the Philippines Cebu Branch Campus is a long-established university that was founded on May 3, 1918 as the Cebu City Junior College of Liberal Arts.
In 1990-1991, the entire college structure was reorganized, and the academic program was divided into five disciplines, namely Management, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Social Sciences, and High School.
In 2010, the UP Cebu Academy was granted autonomy for BOR. Then in 2011, UP Cebu grew again and began construction of a new campus on a 5-hectare plot of land on the South Road estate in Cebu City, which is now home to the UP Professional School, offering degree programs such as Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, and more; Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Education, and Master of Science in Environmental Studies.
As a constituent unit of UP born in Queen South, the campus proudly showcases the most visible landmark of Central Visayas' history and culture—the Administration Building. On December 2, 2010, the National Historical Commission declared the Administration Building a Historic Landmark. The building also features prominently on the University of Cebu logo, symbolizing the University's importance as the oldest campus outside of Luzon, Loren said.
On October 27, 2016, with the inauguration of former Dean Atty, UP Cebu was elevated to the eighth constituent university of the University of the Philippines.
