Reading guide:In China's modern history, bandits in Northeast China are far ahead of the rest of the country in terms of quantity and quality. According to 1947 statistics, two-thirds of the 154 counties in Northeast China were occupied by bandits, and the number of bandits in the entire Northeast exceeded 100,000.

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the reactionaries sent a large number of regular troops to the northeast to seize the big cities, and on the other hand, they sent commissioners to the deep mountains and old forests to collect bandits, and in 1945 alone, there were 223 bandits who were crowned "commanders", "army commanders" and "brigade commanders". The reactionaries did this mainly because they wanted to use them to threaten the people's army from the rear and relieve the pressure on the frontal battlefield.

In order to solve the worries of the future, under the leadership of the party, the Northeast People's Army began to carry out a large-scale anti-bandit operation in 1946 and achieved brilliant results. In order to publicize the achievements of the people's army's suppression of bandits, the Changchun Film Studio at that time specially sent Xu Xiaobing, deputy director, to the front line of the suppression of bandits to shoot a documentary, but he did not expect that he would capture the Northeast bandit Xie Wendong alive.

Xu Xiaobing is the most outstanding photographer in the history of our army, in 1938 in Yan'an to participate in the Eighth Route Army, shot a lot of precious video materials, after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, followed the army to the northeast, in Changchun Film Studio as the deputy director.

According to Xu Lao, in the winter of 1946, he received an order from his superiors to follow the 359 Brigade to the Mudanjiang area to exterminate the bandit Xie Wendong.

Xie Wendong's ancestral home is Liaoning, and at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, his family moved to Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province in order to live. Xie Wendong is insidious and cunning, a few years after arriving in Yilan, he relied on clever robbery to succeed as a big landlord in ten miles and eight townships, and later he spent money to buy the county ** and became the head of the county self-defense regiment.

After the 918 Incident, Xie Wendong's property and power were occupied by the Japanese army, and he was angry and embarrassed, and he led the team to fight the Japanese, and announced the establishment of the Peasant Self-Defense Army, and appointed himself commander-in-chief. In a battle with the Japanese army, Xie Wendong's troops accidentally hit and killed a Japanese soldier, and as a result, he became a thorn in the side of the Japanese army.

In 1939, in the face of the encirclement and suppression of the Japanese army, Xie Wendong, who was frightened, chose to surrender, in order to get the forgiveness of the Japanese army, he personally went to Tokyo to plead guilty, and after returning to the Northeast, he also knelt down in front of the tomb of the big Zuo to repent. Since then, Xie Wendong has become a hardcore traitor, helping the Japanese to harm the people of Northeast China.

On the eve of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Xie Wendong saw the opportunity to declare an uprising in the stronghold and form the Third Army of the Fifth Theater Advance Army, and was later appointed as the commander by the reactionaries. After the outbreak of the civil war, in order to win over Xie Wendong, the reactionaries appointed him as the general and commander-in-chief of the 15th Group Army of the advance army.

Nominally an official army, Xie Wendong still pursued a bandit style, burning, killing and looting everywhere, and oppressing the people. Beginning in 1946, the 359th Brigade had several fierce battles with Xie Wendong's bandits in Linhai Snow Plain, almost completely annihilating Xie Wendong's team, but due to his familiarity with the terrain, Xie Wendong fled into the mountains with several leaders. It was in this context that Xu Xiaobing followed the large army and entered the Linhai Snow Field to search for Xie Wendong's remnants.

One day, Xu Xiaobing and the 2nd Platoon of the 8th Regiment of the 359th Brigade went into the mountains to search, and when they were resting and eating at noon, a reconnaissance soldier came back and reported that footprints had been found in the snow in front of them. Deputy company commander Li Yuqing and second platoon commander Liu Shuyan immediately took people to check, and after analysis, everyone agreed that it should be a group of people who left footprints, and in the deep winter, the common people will never enter the mountains, and the most likely is that the bandits left behind.

Platoon commander Liu Shuyan immediately ordered the troops to follow the footprints in pursuit, and after walking for about half an hour, everyone saw a dilapidated land temple. At that time, several ragged bandits were resting in the temple, and a fat man at the head was still kneeling on the ground praying something. The soldiers of the 2nd platoon immediately surrounded them and shouted at them to surrender, but instead of surrendering, the bandits opened fire on our soldiers in an attempt to escape.

Liu Shuyan of the 2nd platoon immediately led the soldiers to rush forward, and after a shootout, three bandits were killed, but the fat man led by him still took advantage of the terrain to resist stubbornly. In order to shoot precious footage of the bandits, Xu Xiaobing ignored the danger, and the anti-Japanese war camera also rushed to the forefront of the battle. After seeing the fat bandit, he immediately turned on the camera and aimed it at this person to shoot.

The fat man, who was hiding behind a big tree and shooting, had never seen the camera, and when he looked up and saw a soldier aiming at himself with a large-caliber "cannon", he was so frightened that his gun fell into the snow. Seeing this, Xu Xiaobing immediately rushed up with other soldiers and captured the fat man alive. After interrogation, everyone learned that the fat man was the bandit Xie Wendong.

According to Xu Lao's recollection, Xie Wendong was very surprised after being arrested, and asked what advanced ** he was holding in his hand? It turned out that Xie Wendong had already become a frightened bird at that time, and when he suddenly saw a strange camera, he was immediately frightened, and the scene of his surrender happened to be recorded by the camera.

On December 3, 1946, after a public trial in Boli County, Xie Wendong was executed, ending his criminal life.
