Qatar's Minister of State for Energy: Red Sea tensions affect LNG shipments and deliveries.
On February 19, local time, Saad al-Kabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs of Qatar and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said that the conflict in the Gaza Strip has triggered tensions in the Red Sea region and seriously disrupted the transportation and delivery of Qatar's liquefied natural gas.

In order to avoid security risks in the Red Sea region, some of QatarEnergy's LNG carriers have had to detour the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, which has significantly increased transportation costs and delivery times, and if the situation continues, it will have a serious impact on the global economy. Noting that the source of tension in the Red Sea region lies in the new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflicts, Kabi called on Israel to immediately stop its military operations in the Gaza Strip.
Qatar is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of liquefied natural gas. Due to tensions in the Red Sea region, since mid-January this year, Qatar has rerouted several shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) that were originally planned to be shipped to Europe via the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, affecting normal deliveries.
