To be honest, I really envy such a door, and now I live in a building, and the couplets are pasted on both sides of the single door or outside the unit door, and I always feel that there is less temperament that should have belonged to the couplet.

Those who have experienced the Hutong era in Beijing will not be too unfamiliar with this couplet. These two sentences can be said to be the most common couplet on the gate of the courtyard in Beijing, and they are not even "one". From a personal point of view, the "heirloom" and "inheritance" in this couplet not only contain full blessings, suitable for posting on festive festivals, but also "loyalty" and "poems" also fully demonstrate the character and talent of the owner of the house, which is really "the more simple and simple words, the more far-reaching artistic conception can be expressed".
The sentence "loyal and long-lasting" is still relatively easy to understand, and "loyalty" and "long-term heirloom" emphasize a causal relationship - because of the loyal character, the family can pass on the torch. In ancient times, this was a manifestation of "good fortune". There are two interpretations of "poetry and books" on the Internet: one is that "home" can last as long as "poetry books", which I personally think is a misreading; The other is "learning and learning" to make the family long-lasting, and I personally think that this direction is the right solution.
Unlike today's society, there were very few literate people in ancient times, which has led to the fact that our culture has always respected readers and knowledge. According to the Internet, the source of this couplet is Su Shi's "Sanhuai Tang Ming", and I did not find the inevitable connection between the couplet and "Sanhuai Tang Ming". Of course, Su Shi's "Sanhuai Tang Ming" is very good, especially the beginning, which fully embodies the philosophical concept of "good is rewarded with good, evil is rewarded with evil, it is not that it is not not reported, the time has not come". I admire Su Shi's "view of time and space" in this ancient text, especially the sentence "......Don't wait for it to be determined and ask for it, so the sky is boundless", it is really great, this sentence not only contains a profound truth, but also the conciseness of the text, it is really necessary to memorize it.
"Sanhuai Tang Ming" expounds Su Shi's understanding of "good fortune" through the description of Wang You's family, but it is very far-fetched to interpret it with "loyal heirlooms and poems and books for a long time". Because the Wang family described in "Sanhuai Tangming" is not only a good moral point of loyalty, but also has no words and sentences in the interpretation of "poetry and books" in the text. Seeing that some texts related to children's education are saying that this couplet is an extension of "Sanhuai Tangming", my heart is still somewhat "vague".
Now, there are fewer and fewer people with the door open, but the character of "loyalty, filial piety and benevolence" and the attitude of "learning and progress" should be followed by more people. Knowing what is right, we should follow it.
