When the Qing soldiers entered the city, a certain general found Dong Yili's body and mistakenly thought that he had "committed suicide by martyrdom" and praised his loyalty very much. In this way, Dong Yi not only gained fame and fortune during his lifetime, but also left a good reputation after his death.
