He is one of the few warlords who enjoy his old age in peace, and he only fights devils all his life and never stops fighting.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in addition to the iron hooves of the Japanese invaders, there were also a group of warlords who divided one side, making the land of China ** a number of war zones, and the brave soldiers fought to the death on the battlefield, while those warlords were secretly planning how to stabilize their own power, they divided the land as kings, some took refuge in the Japanese invaders, and some pretended to be neutral.
Although these warlords have long since faded from the stage of history, their deeds are still spurned today.
Sa Zhenbing, a family of people from Fuzhou, Fujian, was born in a famous family, and has been diligent and studious since he was a child. At the age of ten, he was admitted to the prestigious military academy at that time, and his academic performance was excellent, even surpassing Deng Shichang.
After graduating, he directly held an important position in the Fujian Navy Division, which is admirable.
At the age of 17, he was fortunate to be one of the first Chinese students to study in the UK, and he studied hard at the Royal Naval College Greenwich in England for four years, accumulating a wealth of professional knowledge and practical experience.
With these precious treasures, he returned to the Qing Dynasty at that time and served as the first mate of the Nanyang Naval Division. His talent and efforts were fully recognized, and soon after, he became a teacher at Tianjin Water Master School, full of confidence and expectation for his future career.
However, the Battle of Mawei in 1884 completely changed the course of his life. In this naval battle, the naval fleet suffered heavy losses, and the Qing Dynasty almost lost face.
In this regard, Sa Zhenbing was angry and took the initiative to attack many times, in order to save the dignity and honor of the country.
Sa Zhenbing bravely went to the front line, and in the First Sino-Japanese War, he stubbornly resisted the powerful Japanese fleet for several days, showing incomparable heroism and tenacity. Despite his outstanding talents, he was deeply disappointed that he could not save the fiasco of the Sino-Japanese War alone.
Subsequently, he returned to his hometown and devoted himself to education.
At the warm invitation of Zhang Zhidong, he joined the Beiyang Navy as an officer. When he held this position, Yuan Shikai appreciated him very much and appointed him Minister of the Navy.
This made his career start much smoother. However, he was tired of the long period of comfortable life and the constant struggle between the warlords, and this was not the life he originally wanted.
Therefore, he chose to give up all his duties and return to his hometown.
After the Xinhai Revolution, Sa Zhenbing used his own property to relieve the disaster in Fuzhou and avoid the suffering of the people. During the Sino-Japanese War, although he could not go to the front to fight, he actively promoted anti-Japanese resistance, and his efforts were widely recognized.
After the war, Sa Zhenbing returned to Fuzhou and spent his old age. He dedicated his life to serving the people and eventually passed away peacefully at the age of 94.
