Since 2005, the China Flower Association has undertaken an important task - the selection of national flowers. After years of hard work, although the selection work has not been able to reach the final result, the selection work is constantly advancing.
In 2005, the former State Forestry Administration guided the China Flower Association to hold a symposium of experts on the selection of national flowers and a meeting of the secretary-general of the National Flower Association, aiming to listen to the opinions and suggestions of people from all walks of life. This meeting brought together many flower experts and people who love flowers, and everyone shared the criteria and principles of national flower selection. After in-depth discussions, the participants agreed that the national flower should be representative and unique, and be able to reflect the country's historical, cultural and geographical characteristics.
In 2006, the former State Forestry Administration submitted a request to the State Forestry Administration for review and confirmation of the results of the selection of the national tree, national bird and national flower. However, due to various reasons, the results of the selection were not conclusively confirmed. Despite this, the selection process continues.
At present, peony is attracting attention as one of the candidate flowers of China's national flower. Peony is one of the traditional Chinese flowers, known as the king of flowers, and has a profound historical and cultural heritage in Chinese culture. During the Wu Zetian period of the Tang Dynasty, the peony was designated as the national flower, representing the prosperity and prosperity of China's flower culture at that time. However, the discussion about the national flower did not stop there. Although peonies are highly revered, there are also some who believe that other flowers are more suitable as national flowers. For example, plum blossoms, osmanthus, azaleas, etc. are also among the candidates.
The world is so big and the floral culture is so rich, but the choice of a country's national flower is always difficult to determine. I hope that in the near future, we can find the "national flower" in our hearts as soon as possible, so that it can show the beauty and charm of China on the world stage.
