On January 27, the No. 1 inclined shaft (total length of 1540 meters) of Wutaishan Tunnel of Xiong'an New Area to Xinzhou High-speed Railway from Xiong'an New Area to Xinzhou High-speed Railway was built by China Railway Taiyuan Bureau Daxi Railway Passenger Dedicated Company and constructed by China Railway Tunnel Bureau Group 72 days ahead of schedule to achieve the construction goal of safe and smooth access to the main tunnel. The breakthrough of the first inclined shaft marks that the construction of the inclined shaft of the Wutaishan Tunnel has officially entered the stage of advancing the main tunnel, laying a solid foundation for the early realization of the tunnel breakthrough.

Xiongxin high-speed railway Wutai Mountain Tunnel is located in Wutai County, Xinzhou City and Wutai Mountain Scenic Area, with a total length of 141 km, which is a full-line control project and a first-class high-risk tunnel. The tunnel passes through 15 fault fracture zones, and the geological conditions are complex and changeable. There are 3 inclined shafts and 2 rescue passages in the Wutaishan Tunnel, of which the No. 1 inclined shaft has a total length of 1540 meters, the ground elevation of the inclined wellhead is 1476m, and the comprehensive slope is 544%, the geological conditions of the tunnel are poor, and the construction safety risk is high. Moreover, the entrance of the cave is located in the Wutai Mountain Scenic Area and the Wutai Mountain Scenic Water Source Protection Area, and the Wutai Mountain World Cultural Heritage Buffer Zone, which has a sensitive ecological environment and extremely high requirements for environmental water protection.

Since the start of construction of the project in October 2022, in the face of complex construction problems and tight construction requirements, the Xiongxin High-speed Railway Project Department of China Railway Tunnel Bureau has actively overcome many difficulties during the epidemic period, such as difficult resource organization, low construction efficiency in winter, and large workload for construction coordination in scenic spots. In the face of complex geological conditions, in order to ensure the safe and smooth progress of tunnel construction, we vigorously carry out technical research, use multi-source collaborative comprehensive forecasting technology, scientifically organize construction, optimize resource allocation, implement tunnel mechanization and standardized construction, and make every effort to promote the safe and smooth entry of the No. 1 inclined shaft of Wutaishan Tunnel into the main tunnel.

Xiongxin high-speed railway is an important part of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network Beijing-Kunming corridor, and is also the first high-speed railway in Shanxi Province with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After the opening of the line, a new railway rapid passenger transport channel will be formed in Shanxi Province with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei in the east, the Yangtze River Delta in the south, Inner Mongolia in the north, and the whole country, which will greatly facilitate the travel of the people along the line, promote regional economic and social development, and be of great significance to better serve the implementation of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy.
