The acceleration of the solar wind and the heating of the corona are difficult problems in the field of solar physics. The main difficulty lies in the lack of effective astrophysical diagnostic methods for high-temperature, thin and completely ionized coronal plasma, especially the "meta-process" of plasma collective interaction at the particle kinetic scale. According to the radiation dynamics spectrum, solar radio radiation can be divided into many different types, reflecting the differences in the atmospheric environment and physical mechanism of the radiation source region. For example, type radio bursts characterized by fast frequency drift and type radio bursts with relatively slow frequency drift.

Recently, researchers at the Purple Mountain Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have discovered a new type of solar radio burst that is significantly different from the type and type of radio bursts—solar solitary wave radiation, using the near-solar observation data of the radio spectrometer on the Parker solar probe. The discovery of a new type of small-scale solar solitary wave radiation is a new progress in the field of solar radio research, which is expected to provide a powerful new detection and diagnostic method for exploring the "meta-process" of coronal heating and solar wind acceleration, especially the solar atmospheric magnetic plasma activity at the particle dynamical scale. At the same time, the study of different types of solar radio radiation is of great scientific significance for revealing the radiation mechanism, and can provide effective observation and diagnosis methods for the study of various solar activity phenomena and dynamic processes in different environments. The findings were published in The Astrophysical Journal.
