At the construction site of the high-speed connection project of the G109 new line of the national highway responsible for Hebei High-speed Group, the bridge construction department was crowded, the welding sparks flashed in the steel processing plant, and the personnel of the tunnel excavation department were on duty day and night, and nearly 200 builders stuck to their posts during the Spring Festival holiday, and the construction was carried out in an intense and orderly manner.
The National Highway G109 new line high-speed connection project starts from the Beijing-Hebei boundary in the southeast of Lujiawan Village, Zhuolu County, connects to the Beijing National Highway G109 new line high-speed in the form of a tunnel, and connects with Zhangzhuo Expressway through a separate roadbed to the west, with a total length of 26 kilometers, 1 new tunnel, 2 bridges, 1 middle bridge and 1 wide bridge.

Tian Tao, the person in charge of the site, introduced that the average pier height of the 557-meter-long B ramp bridge is 499 meters, the highest pier body up to 895 meters. It was difficult to build such a tall bridge deep in the mountains.

In winter construction, it is a difficult problem to ensure the smooth setting of concrete. In the previous construction of the pier cap, the builders set up an insulation shed, heated the cap area with an electric air cannon, and used a foam insulation layer to keep it warm to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

Tian Tao took the reporter to the steel processing plant not far from the Xiaolongmen Tunnel. Here, at one work point, workers are making steel cages, and at another work point, workers are making pier stud steel bars.
The staff of the processing plant told reporters that during the Spring Festival, the steel bar was sufficient, and the steel bar processing was carried out normally, which could meet the requirements of use. The reporter noticed that at some steel joints, workers made butt screws. According to reports, compared with welding, the butt steel bar through the screw will be more firm.
In the high-speed connection project of the new line of national highway G109, the Xiaolongmen tunnel connecting Beijing and Hebei is a key project. At both ends of the tunnel, the builders of Beijing and Hebei are working together, looking forward to the early breakthrough.
At the entrance to the left side of the tunnel, a blue closure device blocks the entrance tightly. With it, work such as supporting in the tunnel is also easier.
Entering the tunnel, I saw that the construction personnel were cleaning the slag. During the Spring Festival holiday, the drilling, blasting, cleaning and reinforcement processes are non-stop around the clock. In order to speed up the construction of the tunnel, they built inclined shafts. On November 1, 2023, after the loud sound of cannons, the inclined shaft of the Xiaolongmen Tunnel officially entered the main tunnel work area. Since then, the working surface of the tunnel construction has been increased, and the construction speed has been significantly accelerated.
As of February 12, the cumulative footage of the left hole of the Zhuoluduan of the Xiaolongmen Tunnel was 1,078 meters, and the cumulative footage of the right hole was 1,221 meters. The cumulative footage of the inclined shaft into the left hole is 287 meters, and it is 512 meters away from the provincial border. The inclined shaft enters the right hole with a cumulative footage of 404 meters, and is 367 meters away from the provincial border.

Before the Spring Festival, the engineering project department comprehensively investigated potential safety hazards, focusing on domestic electricity and heating facilities to ensure that the safety production situation continued to be stable. At the same time, we will strengthen logistics support, prepare enough daily necessities such as rice, flour, and oil in advance to ensure that the ingredients are not interrupted.
Fully considering the hard work of the left-behind construction personnel, the project department also specially invited the families of the left-behind personnel to the station for the Spring Festival, and carried out activities such as sticking Spring Festival couplets, hanging lanterns, making dumplings, and eating Chinese New Year's Eve dinner, so that everyone can experience the happiness of the festival after intense work.

According to the relevant person in charge of Hebei High-speed Group, the project is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2024. At that time, Hebei will add another high-speed passage into Beijing, Zhangjiakou will be better integrated into the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area, and Zhuolu will achieve one-hour access to Beijing.
