How to distinguish the clarity grade of a diamond

Diamond clarity is a key criterion for assessing the degree of internal and superficial imperfections in a diamond, which directly affects its value. The clarity scale from highest to lowest can be divided into the following categories:

1.FL (Flawless) – flawless. This is the highest grade of clarity, which means that there are no internal blemishes on the inside of the diamond, and there are no visible scratches or other forms of imperfections on the outside. This grade of diamond is extremely precious and rare, so it is correspondingly higher.

2.if (internally flawless) – internal cleanliness. This means that there are no flaws on the inside, but there may be subtle scratches or other invisible, defects on the outside. Because of its rarity and **, it is also relatively rare in the market.

3.VVS1 & VVS2 (Very, Very Slightly Included) — Extremely minor defects. This means that the diamond contains a small number of very small inclusions that are normally difficult to detect with the naked eye. It should be noted here that there are slight differences between VVS1 and VVS2, mainly in the size and location distribution of the inclusions. Generally speaking, VVS1 diamonds are rarer, and the price will naturally increase.

4.VS1 & VS2 (Very Slightly Included) – Mild beads. That is, the diamond contains more significant inclusions inside, but it still does not affect its beauty and value in general. Again, as with the previous two, the differences between VS1 and VS2 are still focused on the size and location of the inclusions. Similarly, in general, VS1 diamonds are more scarce than VS2, driving their upward trend.

5.SI1 and SI2 (slightly included) – slightly blemishesive. That is, the diamond contains more obvious inclusions that can be easily identified with the naked eye. However, these drawbacks do not affect the overall beauty and value of the diamond, which is why this grade is extremely common and relatively inexpensive in the commercially available world.

6.I1, I2 and I3 (included) – more defects. This means that a diamond contains a lot of inclusions, which is likely to adversely affect its overall beauty. However, it is important to know that even though these grades** are relatively inexpensive, these imperfections can be greatly reduced or even eliminated by skilled cutters and polishers, greatly increasing the value of the diamond.

When shopping for diamonds, it is important to seek help and guidance from a well-qualified jewelry store or a well-known brand to ensure that the purchase is reliable and the quality is guaranteed.
