The penetration rate of new energy vehicles is increasing year by year, and the scale of charging piles is also expanding. Intensive charging pile construction planning policies have played a vital role in the development of the charging pile industry. However, at present, there is still an imbalance in the layout of charging piles in China.
In order to better support the penetration of the new energy industry, the National Energy Administration issued the "Notice on Organizing and Carrying out the Application of "Demonstration Counties and Demonstration Towns for the Construction and Application of Charging Infrastructure" on the official website on January 9. The Notice aims to promote the rapid development of new energy vehicle charging infrastructure to support new energy vehicles in rural areas and rural revitalization.
The uneven distribution of charging piles is prominent
According to the survey data of the China Automobile Dealers Association, more than 70% of new energy vehicle users said that the coverage of charging facilities and the quality of service are important considerations for them to purchase new energy vehicles. However, with the rapid development of new energy vehicles, problems such as the imperfect layout and unreasonable structure of charging pile infrastructure have become increasingly prominent.
According to data released by the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, as of November 2023, the number of charging infrastructure in China has reached 82640,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 670%。The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers predicts that China's new energy vehicle sales will reach 11.5 million units in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 20%. Although the scale of charging pile construction in China is growing rapidly, the above institutions also pointed out that the layout of charging piles is not balanced, the number of charging piles in urban areas is relatively sufficient, and the number of charging piles at the township level is seriously insufficient.
The industry generally believes that the above phenomenon restricts the popularization and application of new energy vehicles to a certain extent. The "Notice" recently issued by the Energy Bureau will solve this problem.
In terms of specific measures, the "Notice" proposes to promote the construction of centralized public charging stations, covering enterprises and institutions, commercial buildings, transportation hubs and other places;Promote the construction of centralized dedicated charging stations and increase the proportion of new energy vehicles used in official vehiclesActively promote the sharing of community charging infrastructure, and 100% of parking spaces in new residential areas should be equipped with charging facilitiesIncrease support for the construction and operation of charging networks, encourage the introduction of special support policies, encourage the application of new technologies such as vehicle-network interaction, and improve the operation and maintenance system of charging facilities.
With the issuance of this "Notice", the industry is expected to effectively solve the problem of uneven distribution of charging piles, especially in rural areas. This will accelerate the popularization of new energy vehicles in these regions and further promote the overall growth of the new energy vehicle industry.
Car companies are actively developing supercharging technology to improve charging efficiency
In addition to the convenience of the charging location, the speed of the charging time is also one of the most concerned issues for car owners.
Charging piles can be divided into slow charging, fast charging and overcharging according to the charging type.
The charging power of the slow charging pile is less than 22kW, which is suitable for residential areas, workplaces and other scenarios. The charging power of the fast charging pile is generally 60kw-240kw, which is suitable for charging stations, shopping mall parking lots and other places. If the charging power is more than 250kw, it is a supercharging pile, which has a wider range of application scenarios and is one of the promising technical development routes in the industry.
With the popularization of vehicle electrification and intelligence, car companies have deployed high-voltage fast charging technology in recent years, and the demand for fast charging and supercharging is expected to continue to grow. Since 2019, Porsche, BYD, Zeekr, GAC Aion, Xpeng and other OEMs have successively released high-voltage platforms of 800V and above, and the peak charging power has been greatly improved. Taking Xpeng as an example, its 800V high-voltage platform model can achieve a range of 200 kilometers in 5 minutes, while Huawei's liquid-cooled supercharging achieves the goal of 500 kilometers in 10 minutes, greatly improving the charging efficiency. At the recent Xiaomi automotive technology conference, Xiaomi also announced the 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform technology, which the company said reached a maximum voltage of 871V.
Not only are many car companies actively promoting, but fast charging and supercharging have also received policy support. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other eight departments issued the "Notice on Organizing and Carrying out the Pilot Work of the Comprehensive Electrification of Vehicles in the Public Domain" last year, which clearly proposes to "accelerate the application of new charging and swapping technologies such as intelligent and orderly charging, high-power charging, automatic charging, and rapid battery swapping".
The agency expects the demand for high-voltage fast charging to continue to grow
With the help of policies and the optimistic trend of the industry, the agency expects its penetration rate to continue to increase, and the demand for DC fast charging supercharging piles will also continue to grow. By 2025, the penetration rate of supercharging stations will reach about 17% of public charging stations, and it is expected to form a market size of 50 billion yuan. The agency believes that with the increase of 800V high-voltage fast charging models, charging piles need to be upgraded from the three dimensions of power, heat dissipation and safety, so as to drive the iterative demand and value of related supporting parts and open up long-term growth space.
Huaxi ** also holds a similar view, the agency believes that the charging technology towards the era of supercharging, can meet the needs of electric vehicle users for fast charging, help alleviate range anxiety, but also will drive the demand for the supercharging industry chain.
Among the related listed companies, Shuangjie Electric (300444SZ) mentioned in the previous investor research minutes that the business development potential of new energy vehicle charging piles is greater. At present, the company has a full range of AC charging piles, DC chargers and other products, and has obtained the first-class business qualification of State Grid Corporation.
Yonggui Electric (300351.)SZ) said on the investor interactive platform that the company has mastered the core technology of high-power liquid-cooled charging guns and has independent intellectual property rightsIt can realize the charging scenario with a maximum current of 600A and a rated voltage of 1000V, and is the first to be promoted and applied in the domestic market, and has been supplied in batches.
According to the market capitalization, in the high-voltage fast charging concept sector, China Baoan, Huagong Technology, Xinwangda, Joyson Electronics, and GCL-ET currently rank among the top five.
