If the latter lord does not surrender, but retreats to Nanzhong, will Shu Han have any hope of risin

In 263 AD, Deng Ai, the general of Wei, smuggled into Yinping and led his army to the city of Chengdu. In the face of Deng Ai's army, the later lord Liu Chan chose to surrender, and Shu Han perished.

However, there were actually three theories in the court at that time:One is surrender; the second took refuge in Soochow; Third, they withdrew to Nanzhong in order to make a comeback.

So let's talk about it today, if the later lord Liu Chan chooses to withdraw to Nanzhong, does Shu Han have a chance to rise again?

Let's start with my personal opinion, I don't think it's very likely.

First of all, we must know that the establishment of a country requires a large number of talents and materials, and we must know that Liu Bei was able to establish Shu Han, and at that time he had countless capable military generals under his command, coupled with the rich Yizhou reserves, which could successfully establish a political power. And after escaping, Liu Chan came to the land of Nanzhong, and it was not easy to survive, let alone Chengdu, unless there was another peerless genius like Zhuge Liang.

Second, the land of Nanzhong at that time was not as rich as it is now. Because of the complex terrain and inconvenient transportation, it was not easy for Shu Han to maintain his rule over the local area at that time, let alone support his own efforts to restore the country through the land of Nanzhong.

Third, whether the later lord Liu Chan fled to Nanzhong and could maintain his dominance is a question. Although Zhuge Liang pacified the land of Nanzhong at the beginning, it is precisely because of this that the people of Nanzhong are really convinced that Zhuge Liang, or the later governors of Nanzhong, not the Shu Han court. Coupled with the fact that the local ethnic minorities have always been xenophobic, whether Liu Chan can be accepted is a huge question.

Fourth, even if all the above conditions can be met, the biggest obstacle to the restoration of the country is the Wei State and the Wu State. Needless to say, Wei attacked Sichuan and Shu in order to destroy Shu, so after taking the land of Shu, they must have worked hard to prevent it from being taken away by others.

So why do you have to guard against Soochow? Although the two countries are an alliance, once Shu Han loses Chengdu, it basically represents the death of the country, so at this time the two countries are not equal relations at all. In addition, in history, not long after the death of Shu Han, Dongwu planned to take advantage of the fire to rob under the banner of rescuing Shu Han, wanting to seize the gateway to the land of Sichuan and Shu first. However, it was blocked by Luo Xian, a famous general of the Shu Han Dynasty, so it can be seen that there are only interests between countries.

It is precisely for the above four reasons that even if Liu Chan chooses to go to Nanzhong, it is impossible to return to the country, and the best possibility is to become the leader of the local tribe. Unless there are major changes in the Central Plains, just like the Rebellion of the Eight Kings in history, it is possible to complete the restoration of the country.
