List of Quality Authors Sariputta was meditating in the woods, and Vimalaya actually said, "You are just meditating, not meditating."

There was an elder named Vimalaya in the city of Viyali, who had made offerings to countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and had gained wisdom and insight. He uses all kinds of supernatural powers to educate the world, is proficient in the practice of the Dharma, and has the four fearless realms of Buddha and Bodhisattva.

Vimala is proficient in the true essence of Buddhism, good at using wisdom to guide sentient beings, and good at flexibly using various convenient methods, and practicing the Mahayana spirit in a down-to-earth manner, which is highly recognized and admired by the Buddhas.

One day, Vimalaya thought to himself: "If my body is ill, won't the World-Honored One send someone to visit me?"

Knowing this, the Buddha said to the wise Sariputta, "Go and visit Vimalaya." ”

When Sariputta heard this, he immediately replied, "World-honored One, I may not be very suitable for this task. ”

Once, while meditating in the woods, Sariputta met Vimalaya, who told him, "Sariputta, true meditation is not limited to formal meditation, and you don't even need to think about meditation. True meditation should be one in which the mind is unhindered, and one can achieve concentration no matter walking, living, sitting, or lying down. It should be integrated into daily life, not confined to a specific form, but only following the Dharma; The heart is not disturbed by evil thoughts, and it is not attached to the external environment. ”

When Sariputta heard this, he was speechless.

Therefore, he said to the Buddha, "I am far from the state of Vimalaya's practice, and I am afraid that I am not up to this task." ”

After listening to Sariputta's advice, the Buddha turned to Moggallan, who was known as the "First Divine Power," and said, "Moggallan, I ask you to visit Vimalaya. ”

Moggallan hurriedly replied, "Venerable, I'm afraid I won't be able to visit Vimalaya. ”

It turned out that on one occasion, Moggallan went to the city of Viyali to give a lecture on Buddhism to a group of white-clothed laymen. Just as Vimalaya was passing by, he said to Moggallan:

Hey, Moggallian, you don't treat these white-clothed people in a proper way. When teaching the Dharma, it should be consistent with the true meaning of the Dharma. ”

Vimala means that the core of the Dharma is not to fall into the confusion of sentient beings, because it transcends all sentient beings' attachments; The core of Buddhism is not to fall into the delusion of the self, because it transcends all attachment to the self; The essence of the Dharma cannot be spoken, because it transcends all the limitations of language.

The nature of the Dharma is like this, so why talk about it? Therefore, the so-called speech is actually wordless; Nor can the listener truly comprehend and acquire.

After hearing the words of Vimalaya, the 800 laymen present had an epiphany.

Therefore, Moggallan said, "I do not have enough wisdom and insight to be able to visit Vimalaya. ”
