On 10 January, Yue Gaofeng, Secretary General of the Chinese Jockey Club, met with Jin Rongxie, President of the World Horseback Archery Federation (WHAF), and the two sides had a friendly and pragmatic meeting on the inheritance, promotion and development of the riding archery culture.
Secretary-General Yue Gaofeng welcomed the visit of Chairman Kim Young-sub and said that the Chinese horse culture has a long history, and China is the birthplace of the world's mounted archery culture, with a profound riding history, cultural heritage and mass foundation. As a professional organization serving the national horse industry, the China Jockey Club is committed to promoting the inheritance and development of traditional national horse culture, including riding and archery. Mounted archery is an important cultural heritage of ours, and we believe that cooperation with the World Mounted Archery Federation will play a positive and important role in promoting the development of mounted archery culture in the future.
Chairman Kim Young-sub highly praised China's mounted archery culture, saying that China, as the birthplace of mounted archery culture, has a rich cultural heritage and excellent riding archery tradition, which is of great significance to the development of mounted archery in the world. We hope that through the cooperation with the China Jockey Club, we can deepen mutual trust and emotion, and make a positive contribution to the prosperity of the world riding and archery industry. The two sides also exchanged views and reached consensus on the development of cultural exchanges and academic seminars on mounted archery, holding competitions and personnel training.
It is understood that the World Horse Back Archery Federation (WEC) was established in October 2002 and is an important part of the traditional sports group (TSG) promoted by UNESCO's priority projects. At present, there are more than 70 league members, including South Korea, Mongolia, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and Thailand, and since 2005, it has successfully held 15 World Mounted Archery Championships (WHAC).
