On 17 February, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin issued the Circular on the Exit Modes of Personnel and Vehicles from the "Second Line" Corridor of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (hereinafter referred to as the "Circular"), which clarified the mode of passage of personnel and various types of vehicles from the "Second Line" Corridor of the Co-operation Zone, including the flow routes and corresponding procedures of various types of buses, conventional buses and trucks. In addition, the "second line" passage of Hengqin Wharf, Hengqin Station of Guangzhou-Zhuhai Urban Rail Extension Line, and Chimelong Station must pass through the customs travel inspection hall and leave the island by boat or car in accordance with relevant regulations.
On the other hand, vehicles performing emergency rescue tasks will have priority in passing during the opening hours of each channel, and other special vehicles shall be subject to the regulations of the corresponding industry management department. Passage from the Mainland to the Co-operation Zone (to the island) will continue to be implemented in accordance with the current regulations. The "Circular" will take effect on the date of the closure and operation of the cooperation zone.
It is understood that from 0:00 on March 1, 2024, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin will be closed for operation. Since the beginning of this year, the "Notice on the Tax Policies for the Import and Export of Goods in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin", the "Notice on the Tax Policies for Personal Luggage and Deliverables in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin", and the "Measures of the Customs of the People's Republic of China for the Supervision of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin" have been promulgated one after another, all of which will be implemented on the date of acceptance of the relevant regulatory facilities in the Co-operation Zone and the official closure and operation. With the official release of the Circular, it is believed that the "combination of a series of policy measures" will form the greatest synergy to facilitate the smooth flow of logistics, capital and information between Hengqin and Macao, and help the Co-operation Zone accelerate its progress towards the development direction of "building a new system of high-level integration and opening up with Macao".
