The latest data on domestic agricultural carbon emissions is the Second Biennial Update Report on Climate Change of the People's Republic of China submitted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in 2018, which shows that China's total carbon emissions in 2014 were about 12.3 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2E), and the total carbon emissions from agricultural activities were 8300 million tons of CO2E, accounting for 6% of the country's total carbon emissions7%。Mainly used in animal intestinal fermentation, animal manure management, rice planting, agricultural soil and agricultural waste field incineration. From the perspective of industrial fields, planting emissions accounted for 584%;Aquaculture accounted for 416%;In terms of gas composition, methane emissions account for 56% of total agricultural emissions2%, nitrous oxide emissions account for 438%。None of the data in this paper include data on land use change and carbon sequestration by forestry.
The World Resources Institute updated that China's total carbon emissions in 2020 were still 12.3 billion tons of CO2E, of which 6500 million tons of CO2E, accounting for 5% of China's total emissions1%, down 1 from 20146%, down from 7 globally6 percentage points, accounting for 111%。On the whole, although the proportion of China's agricultural carbon emissions in the world is still relatively high, the proportion of agricultural carbon emissions shows a significant downward trend, and the carbon emissions per unit of agricultural GDP and per capita agricultural population are lower than those of the United States (see Table 2).
