From October 2021 to April 2023, Li, together with Liu Moumou and others, bought food from 17 e-commerce companies such as three squirrels online, and after receiving the food, Li deliberately added hair, plastic, insects and other foreign objects to the purchased food or made the food moldy, and then claimed compensation from the e-commerce company on the grounds of food safety issues, and threatened the e-commerce company by means of online ** and complaints. Through the above methods, Li, Liu and others have extorted more than 200 times from 17 e-commerce companies, and the total amount involved is more than 100,000 yuan.
According to the Yijiang Branch of the Wuhu Municipal Public Security Bureau, the "Three Squirrels" company, an enterprise under the jurisdiction of Yijiang District, Wuhu City, reported to the cyber security department of the public security organ, saying that a number of customers demanded refunds and compensation on the grounds of food safety problems after purchasing goods on the online shopping platform. During the operation, the clerk found that the payee was the same account, and suspected that someone was extorting the company on the grounds of food safety. It is understood that in July 2023, "Three Squirrels" and many other companies will establish the "Food Industry Brand Rights Protection Alliance" in Wuhu to jointly resist illegal and criminal activities such as malicious claims.
Because both defendants were able to truthfully confess their crimes after being brought into the case, and voluntarily admitted guilt and accepted punishment, they may be given lighter punishments or leniencies respectively in accordance with law; The two defendants have returned all their illegal gains to the victim units, obtained the written understanding of some of the victim units, and voluntarily paid the fines, and may be given lighter punishments as appropriate. Among them, the defendant Li committed the crime of extortion and was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 yuan; Defendant Liu XX committed the crime of extortion and was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment, suspended for 3 years, and fined 10,000 yuan; The instruments of the crime are to be confiscated in accordance with law.
