Deng Jiaxian (June 25, 1924 – July 29, 1986), a native of Huaining, Anhui Province, was a famous nuclear physicist in China and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

He is one of the pioneers and founders of China's nuclear research and development work, and is known as the "father of the two bombs".

He was born on June 25, 1924 in Huaining County, Anhui Province.

In 1936, he was admitted to Beiping Chongde Middle School and became friends with Yang Zhenning.

In 1941, he was admitted to the Department of Physics of Southwest Associated University.

After graduating in 1945, he taught in Kunming Wenzheng Middle School and Peiwen Middle School.

In 1946, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Physics of Peking University.

In October 1948, he went to the Department of Physics of Purdue University in the United States for further study and obtained a doctorate degree in physics.

After returning to China in 1950, he served as an assistant researcher at the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Since 1958, he has successively served as the director of the Theoretical Department of the Ninth Research Institute of the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry, the deputy director and director of the 901 Institute of the Ninth Academy of the Ministry of Nuclear Industry, and the vice president and president of the Ninth Institute of the Ministry of Nuclear Industry.

In 1980, he was elected as a member (academician) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Since 1958, Deng Jiaxian has served as the person in charge of the theoretical design of China's first atomic bomb and led the completion of the theoretical plan of the atomic bomb.

Participate in supervising detonation simulation tests prior to nuclear tests.

He organized and led the research on the design principles and selected technical approaches of the hydrogen bomb, and participated in the development and testing of China's first hydrogen bomb in 1967.
