Lloret de Mar Casino, Spain B720 by Fermin Vazquez Arquitectos.

The project is located in the historic gardens of the Gran Hotel Monterrey in the heart of Lloret de Mar (Girona), led by Fermin Vazquez, designed by B720 Arquitectos A project that combines a unique environment and architecture, both functional and unique, the design of the new casino breaks the convention, the entire structure rises directly from the ground to form a special space, the building is divided into three distinct parts, Blend in with your surroundings

The underground part of the building extends to the ground as a continuation of the Monterrey Hotel Gardens, between the Tossa de Mar road and the hotel access, the space is mostly buried underground, the casino forms an integral part of the hotel gardens, and at the same time it successfully continues the south façade of the Monterrey Hotel, enriching the urban space while providing public spaces. As a result, the building takes on a striking face facing the public access while remaining hidden – transforming from the vantage point of the hotel's gardens into topographical elements.

The casino emerges from under its green "cloak" and is open to the city, dividing the unique nature of the two sides of the site (private and public), resolving the height difference between the public avenue and the hotel garden (which must be protected), acting as an extension of the existing exterior space, the landscaped roof mitigates the visual impact of the building complex while protecting the hotel from road noise.

When a major entertainment facility such as a casino is built, the associated supporting spaces, including the restaurant, kitchen, parking lot, meeting rooms and *** area, need to be accommodated and distributed within a single building, so good accessibility is crucial. At the same time, a large parking lot must be provided, and the best possible relationship with the city needs to be established. In addition to meeting these requirements, the design is based on a unified, avant-garde image that aims to convey a vibrant and iconic architectural image.

The casino is distributed in the main space on the ground floor, which includes the *** area, the games room, the ** exhibition space, the VIP area, the restaurant, the services (kitchen, pantry, cloakroom, etc.) and the administrative and security areas, the building is a multifunctional space (auditorium, conference center, municipal use, etc.) with a capacity of a thousand people, and the main foyer to the outside, the service area and the casino management office is also on this floor. Finally, the rooftops used by private hotels and casinos expand the landscaped space by planting local low-maintenance shrubs and trees. The three basement floors are mainly used for parking (450 spaces), as well as facilities and attached casino space (located in the basement of the first floor).

The slope of the façade is made of monolithically colored reinforced concrete and is paved with pine planks. The floor of the space is separated by a series of broken concrete planes, thanks to a digital lighting system that extends towards the marquee, the plane faces a column grid structure adjacent to the foyer space, giving the casino a unique identity, this multi-lighting that includes a system-controlled LED lights and specific software that can be used to replicate the moving image, creating special lighting effects based on the activity carried out in the casino. This floor is also connected to the hotel garden through an opening in the landscaped roof, which can be used for outdoor events.
