Ford unveiled the facelifted Explorer for 2025 this week, with a new exterior styling, a facelifted cabin with more standard equipment, and a simplified and downsized model setup.

On the outside, Ford has given the SUV a new front end and redesigned taillights, each with a unique grille. The entry-level Active variant gets a black mesh grille with chrome trim, while the Platinum variant gets a wing-shaped grille with satin chrome finishing. Both the ST-Line and ST models feature a honeycomb grille with mesh inserts, but the ST models are distinguished by the addition of a distinctive ST emblem. Another new option this year is the Vapor Blue Metallic Body Paint, available for Active, ST-Line and ST models.
Ford reduced the number of Explorer models from eight to just four, and the Active, St-Line, ST and Platinum, and the XLT, Timberline, Limited and King Ranch models no longer existed. Ford is also mulling another rugged off-road version, which is expected to launch later this year.
The 2025 Ford Explorer also comes with a host of standard features, such as heated front seats, 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, wireless Apple CarPlay Android Auto, eight USB slots (two for the third row), three 12V power ports, a power tailgate, Ford Co-Pilot 360 and LED headlights.
