Captain Yuan Bin hijacked the plane and defected, dissatisfied with the room division

During the Chung Yeung Festival in 1998, an Air China captain was dissatisfied with the failure to get a property in time, and even brazenly hijacked the plane and tried to flee to Taiwan. He mistakenly thought that this was an act of defecting to the Taiwan authorities and that he would be able to get better job treatment.

But where did such a "wonderful" misunderstanding come from? What are the consequences of this absurd hijacking? Will this captain really be able to escape justice and achieve his "wish"?

All this will be revealed on October 28, 1998.

The plane flew smoothly in the sky, and the passengers enjoyed a comfortable journey in the cabin, some chatting, some looking at the scenery outside the window, and some flipping through magazines to kill time.

The flight attendants are as busy as ever and serve every passenger with due diligence. However, a mysterious female passenger catches everyone's attention. She looked serious, frowned, and looked at the watch on her wrist from time to time, looking anxious.

Suddenly, she got up and went to the bathroom, but she didn't come back for a long time. On this seemingly calm flight, a conspiracy is brewing. In the isolated cockpit, the captain suddenly announced a startling decision to the co-pilot Wen Fei: "I want to drive this plane to Taiwan!" ”

Wen Fei was stunned by this sudden news, and he didn't understand why he was doing this. The captain didn't seem to be joking, but seriously asked Wen Fei to cooperate with him.

However, the atmosphere became unusually stagnant, Wen Fei turned his head and glanced at Yuan Bin, who looked very uneasy and angry, and he repeated the captain's request. This is an ongoing event, a seemingly ordinary flight, but a shocking conspiracy is hidden.

Wen Fei was sitting on a plane as he prepared to start his flight to Yangon, Myanmar. Suddenly, the captain Yuan Bin, who was sitting next to him, made an unbelievable request: to fly to Taiwan.

Wen Fei was stunned, but Yuan Bin was very resolute, and even threatened that if he did not cooperate, he would die together. At this time, Wen Fei's wife Xu Mei also came to the cockpit, she and Yuan Bin glanced at each other, and then closed the hatch.

Wen Fei's brain was a mess, and he knew that the captain was going to hijack the plane. He tried to persuade Yuan Bin to give up the idea, but Yuan Bin was unmoved.

For the safety of the passengers and other crew members, Wenfei decided to temporarily agree to Yuan Bin's request and delay the time. As a result, Air China flight CA905 was hijacked by Yuan Bin and turned back to Beijing and flew in the direction of Taiwan.

Although Yuan Bin and his wife were new to hijacking, they received the active cooperation of Wen Fei and other crew members, and after obtaining Yuan Bin's consent, Wen Fei reported the emergency to the ground air traffic control center through the radio channel at about 9 o'clock.

During this period, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has taken a series of measures, always with the safety of passengers as the primary consideration, and constantly consulted and dissuaded through ground control towers. However, the negotiations were unsuccessful, and 95 minutes after Yuan Bin hijacked the plane, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) turned to China Airlines in Taiwan for help in handling the relevant matters.

When the plane crossed the airspace over Fujian, the Taiwan side had already made corresponding preparations and quickly and accurately locked down the position of the plane. In the end, after a voyage of 3 hours and 12 minutes, the plane hijacked by his own captain finally landed safely at Taiwan's Taoyuan Airport, and police cars, fire trucks and ambulances quickly followed the plane to taxi.

Fortunately, none of the passengers and crew on board were injured.

Taiwan ** is in contact with Yuan Bin, and he has arrived in the coveted Taiwan. Yuan Bin seemed at ease, even though he had committed a crime, he still treated himself like a proud rooster, treating himself as a VIP.

He even arrogantly said through the radio: "When the hatch opened, the heavily armed police uncles poured into the plane in a tight and orderly manner, and they admitted so readily and consciously that the leading policemen were stunned for a few seconds."

Then, they left with Yuan Bin and his wife. In the late 80s and early 90s of the last century, Taiwan became the destination of many hijackings. In just over three years, more than a dozen hijackings have occurred.

The source of these hijackings is the famous Zhuo Changren hijacking case. On May 5, 1983, a Chinese Civil Aviation Trident passenger plane took off from Shenyang on time and headed for Shanghai.

During one flight, Zhuo Changren and others took control of the plane, and although the captain tried to make an emergency landing, the plane was forced to move in the direction of South Korea because there were professionals among the gangsters and warned that there were ** and professional knowledge.

Due to a lack of fuel, the plane eventually landed at a military airfield northeast of Seoul, surrounded by US troops stationed in South Korea. After being handled by both China and South Korea, all passengers returned to China safely, while the six hijackers remained in South Korea.

Later, with the assistance of the Taiwanese ambassador to South Korea, the six hijackers came to Taiwan as defectors and were treated as "heroes" by the authorities, giving them real estate, money and jobs.

Zhuo Changren (third from right) successfully took advantage of Taiwan's ambiguous principle of "man-machine separation", and the identity of the hijacker actually made him a guest of honor and a superior person in Taiwan, playing with language, and the criminal was instantly whitewashed into a "hero".

This principle has led to more and more mainland criminals and ordinary people throwing themselves into hijacking. The captain of Air China seems to be a good thing, but why did Yuan Bin hijack the plane?

In an interview with Taiwan News and under interrogation, Yuan Bin disclosed the reason for his hijacking, which was very simple and rude: in the years when the general salary was not very high, it seemed understandable to rack his brains in order to get a set of real estate for the unit, but it seemed a bit absurd to hijack the plane because of the division of the house, especially when he learned about Yuan Bin's salary at that time.

Yuan Bin was born in 1968 and just turned 30 in 1998. Fortunately, Yuan Bin was born in a rare cadre family in that era, and when his peers were still struggling with food and clothing, he had long been worry-free, and he was also one of the scarce college students in that era.

In 1993, Yuan Bin successfully graduated from the Civil Aviation Flight University of China and joined Beijing Air International as a pilot on international flights. For Air China, which was founded only in 1988, Yuan Bin seems to have all the qualities a pilot needs: superb flying skills, agility and self-motivation.

For Yuan Bin, Air China also provided everything he needed as much as possible.

Yuan Bin's career was smooth sailing, and he was promoted to co-captain in just four years, and according to the company's welfare system, he got a 100-square-meter real estate in Beijing's Guangxi Gate Beili.

At the same time, at a dinner party, he met his wife, Xu Mei, a teacher at Beijing Normal University with a gentle personality. Their love at first sight developed into a warm and sweet married life, which is enviable.

In 1998, Yuan Bin was promoted again to become one of the youngest captains of Air China, with a fixed income of 12,000 yuan per month, and his net income was close to 20,000 yuan with benefits such as overtime pay and flight allowance.

He already owns a property and a Jetta car. However, soon after his promotion, Yuan Bin caught up with the unit again, but he didn't expect that at this juncture, he was not the only one who wanted a house.

Even if he already owns a property, he doesn't have an advantage in terms of human feelings. At the same time, the leader must treat everyone equally, and he cannot open the back door for him.

Yuan Bin and his wife decided to plan a hijacking incident in order to realize their desire to share the room. However, their plan ultimately fell through, because with the easing of *** and the catastrophe caused by the hijackers taken in by Taiwan, the principle of "man-machine separation" has long been no longer implemented.

Although Zhuo Changren gained a certain amount of money and fame after the hijacking, he eventually got nothing, because the empty glove white wolf was not the lifestyle he pursued. In order to cover up this vile incident, the Taiwan authorities had no choice but to bury and whitewash the hijackers, which aroused the dissatisfaction of the Taiwan people.

In the years that followed, some more people defected to Taiwan and committed all kinds of heinous crimes. Finally, on November 5, 1993, the Straits Association and the Taiwan Straits Exchange Association held talks in Xiamen and took substantive measures against the hijackers.

Yuan Bin held a sign against the hijacking, but he wanted to hijack the plane and defect to Taiwan because of a trivial matter, which is really absurd. Taiwan's previous ambiguous attitude towards Yuan Bin and others was also aiding and abetting.

But now it is no longer a paradise for hijackers, what awaits them is legal sanctions and repatriation to the mainland.
