In the autumn of 2021, the designer and the homeowner met for the first time. The female protagonist of the illustrator and the male protagonist of the game designer, the two love to play games, draw pictures, and enjoy the leisure time of movies at home. They longed for an open abode, hoping to catch a glimpse of each other at any time.

The heroine Adin loves the texture of the old house and is eager to experience the story emotion that precipitates time and era. The designer aims to give this residence a unique atmosphere that belongs to them, so that the moment they return home, they feel as if they have stepped into their own small world.

Pattern before improvement.

The original unit shows an old-fashioned one-bedroom house of 62, with a low ceiling height and a complex structure, with blurred functions of the living room and bedroom, a dim entrance, and poor overall lighting.

The spatial layout is reshaped.

1. Wall remodeling: Open up the walls of the living room and bedroom to redefine the functional structure.

2. Regional innovation: Shrink the bedroom and divide the space into a living room, a study, a small western kitchen, and a balcony storage area to achieve multi-function in a small space.

3. Flexible door design: The bedroom adopts four foldable doors to realize flexible opening and closing of the space and independent switching.

4. Increase storage: More storage space has been added to the TV wall, study, balcony and bedroom.

5. Transparent material: Introduce art glass and mirror surface to increase the transparency and extension of the space.

Porch. Stepping into the house, the brown tone envelops everything, and the simple and quiet temperament seems to freeze time.

The long hallway is about 25 cm wide, and houses a half-height shoe changing cabinet, with keys and bags hanging from retro animal hooks.

Living room. The designer loves this perspective, which is full of layers and retro vibes.

Semi-open walls separate the living room, dining room and study, while art glass windows connect the entire space, allowing natural light to spill through the glass and blur the boundaries of the space, each area is both independent and interconnected.

Kitchen. The male protagonist loves to cook, so the design cleverly integrates the bar and the dining table, so that easy cooking and dining are all available, which is both convenient and space-saving.

A charming retro window that is not only beautiful and moving, but also a window for the flow of emotions.

Bedroom lighting shines through the small windows in the dining room, creating a play of light and shadow, allowing the two to perceive each other even in different areas, and these small details make people feel warm.

Rare gray-brown tulips adorn the space, complementing the dark brown and warm grey doors to add a touch of color to the area.

A circular mirror is added on the other side, and the reflection of light makes the space look more spacious.

Den. In the 50-year-old cottage, a separate study area becomes an important place for work and play.

A separate study may seem luxurious at first, but it is a necessity for the homeowner. The designer cleverly planned to make the study room interact with the living room.

In the study, antique wooden chairs add texture and blend into the overall atmosphere.

Mac-style shelves above the desk and a variety of bookshelf designs provide space for sorting everyday books and office supplies.

The small cabinet on the partition wall of the study is used to store all kinds of small sundries.

Balcony. The floor of the balcony is made of brown + black mosaic parquet tiles, exuding the dim and nostalgic atmosphere of an old bungalow.

The grille storage cabinet provides wonderful storage space for fresh fans, vacuum cleaners and robot vacuums in the later stage.

Bedchamber. The color of the bedroom is very different from the living room, with warm desert brown art paint to give the space a rougher and more grainy texture.

Abandoning the traditional backrest bed, the screen is combined with the bed, and the clever brass elements are embellished to increase the visual level.

The playing card decoration creatively added by the heroine has become a unique embellishment, witnessing the joint efforts of the designer and the homeowner.

The bedroom's folding art stained glass doors create a retro vibe, allowing the space to compress the bedroom space while maintaining a sense of openness.

The small chandelier is an old lampshade that the heroine had, and it was re-equipped with a bulb in the later stage, giving it a new glow.

Kitchen. The cabinets are in the same brown tone as the living room, and the walls are glazed handmade tiles, each of which shines in the light.

The washer and dryer are cleverly planned in the kitchen space, providing a complete bathroom function for a small space.

Toilet. In a small space of a few square meters, a complete bathroom function is realized.

The floor of red and white checkered bricks and beige bricks echoes the colors of the living room.

Party A and Party B became friends, and in order to support the designer to take graduation photos, they completed the installation and dealt with the logistics problem of the coffee table in just half a month.

From the first time to the finished design, the whole process took 289 days. Every corner, whether it is doors, windows, sofas or knick-knacks, is full of familiar memories and witnesses the joint efforts of designers and homeowners.

In this incredibly beautiful home, may the two of them welcome a warm and sweet new life together, and grow freely with the cottage.
