In the scorching heat of Lop Nur, Yu Chunshun carried a heavy bag, said goodbye to his friends from the Shanghai TV crew, and marched heroically to the forward bridge. However, he did not reach the meeting point at the agreed time and was eventually found in the middle of Lop Nur.
This explorer and traveler, known as "the first person to hike in China" and "contemporary Xu Xiake", his life has come to an end in this mysterious land. How he faced challenges in Lop Nur is unknown, but his courage and determination will always be remembered.
Yu Chunshun, known as the "contemporary Xu Xiake", held a press conference in Shanghai on May 13, 1996, announcing his magnificent plans to inspect the Silk Road, cross Lop Nur and cross the six deserts.
At the same time, Shanghai TV also announced the establishment of a film crew of "Contemporary Xu Xiake - Yu Chunshun Feature" to accompany him to record his adventure throughout the process. After the press conference, he arrived in Korla, Xinjiang, by train, and was warmly received by local friends.
However, when he announced plans to trek through Lop Nur in June, the locals were shocked. Because June to August is the hottest period of the year in Lop Nur, the surface temperature is high.
Sixty or seventy degrees.
They suggested that Yu Chunshun change in.
Go again in September and October when the weather is cooler. However, Yu Chunshun insisted that no matter what the weather, he would go according to the original plan and stick to his dream of adventure.
Mr. Yu turned down the invitation from the Shanghai TV crew because he was following his desert year plan. He plans to be ready to cross the desert in September and complete his goal of crossing six deserts by the end of the year.
He believes that his extensive trekking experience and knowledge of summer escape will ensure that he can cross Lop Nur safely. In order to prepare for the crossing of the Taklamakan Desert in the second half of the year, he decided to walk around Qiang County on foot before the film crew arrived, to find his condition and adapt to the surrounding environment.
At a 9 on May 31In the level 5 sandstorm, Yu Chunshun returned safely with his rich exploration experience. This experience gave him more confidence to face the challenges of trekking Lop Nur.
After the film crew arrived in Xinjiang, they received advice from the locals not to go to Lop Nur in June, and the choreographer Song Jichang and others also persuaded Yu Chunshun to change his plan many times, but he had made up his mind and only agreed to shorten the time to 5 days and promised that he would not stay away from the film car.
After that, the local propaganda department held a press conference, provided two desert vehicles, stocked up with water, food, vegetables and essential medicines, and invited Zhao Zichong, a geological engineer known as the "Desert King", and Peng Gexia, a veteran tour guide, to accompany them as guides.
On June 6th, a grand grand ceremony was held in the Loulan Hotel, where people blessed them with wine, danced beautiful dances, sang joyful songs, and cheered for their grand march.
Yu Chunshun wore a bright red flower on his chest, and dried up three bowls of spirits in one go, tears of excitement and sweat slid down his dark and ruddy face. He said passionately: "I will never live up to everyone's expectations, resolutely complete the plan to cross Lop Nur, everyone says that June is not suitable to cross Lop Nur, I hope to break this legend, please believe me, I will be able to succeed!."”
When we really embarked on the journey, we realized that this was an extremely difficult journey. The sun hung in the sky like a huge fireball, and the ground was like a blazing iron, so hot that it seemed to be dried and steamed in the next second.
However, Yu Chunshun has always maintained a high level of enthusiasm, talking and laughing along the way.
On June 8, at Camp 3 on the west bank of Lop Nur, Yu Chunshun made it clear that he had decided to cross Lop Nur on foot alone and no longer follow the film vehicle. This decision surprised everyone.
During the days of walking in the desert, everyone deeply experienced the mystery of nature and the fear of walking in the desert. They were worried out of concern and opposed Yu Chunshun's decision because of concern.
Yu, however, insisted that in order to maintain the authenticity of the documentary, he had to do so. He sincerely said that he hopes to repay everyone's attention and trust in this ordinary way.
In the early morning of the 10th, Yu Chunshun and the tour guide Peng Gexia agreed on a hiking route: return from Loulan, start from Tuyuan, follow the route they had tried to take earlier, pass through Lop Nur, then pass through Loulan, and finally meet the film crew at Qianqian Bridge.
On the way back from Loulan to Tuyuan, they continued to take footage of Yu Chunshun's journey, burying water and dry food at certain distances along the way, and marking them with white plastic bags filled with sand for him to dig up and eat during the hike.
Tomorrow, Yu Chunshun will start his solo trekking tour, and everyone will toast to him. Seeing that everyone was worried, Yu Chunshun comforted everyone and said: "I won't have an accident, if there is really any accident, it will be providential." ”
Whenever I recall the day Yu Chunshun walked into Lop Nur, people will be moved by the way he waved the straw hat in his hand and smiled honestly and cheerfully. He exclaimed, "Let's go ahead and see you at the bridge!" ”
Then turn around and walk towards the hinterland of Lop Nur. This sentence became his last sentence in the world. June 11 was the day he set off. In the morning, he ate a porridge and began to pack his backpack.
The backpack contained his tent, moisture-proof mats, notebooks, sleeping bags and other necessities, as well as a box of American ginseng given to him by a friend, all of which were essential equipment for his journey into the unknown.
Yu Chunshun said goodbye to everyone at 9 o'clock in the morning, Zhao Ziyun repeatedly reminded the precautions, he folded his hands, as if he was grateful for Zhao Ziyun's concern, and as if he prayed and encouraged himself: "I will definitely succeed, I must succeed." ”
After sending Yu Chunshun away, the film crew was supposed to return to the pick-up point at the Qianjianqiao base camp, but they did not set off immediately because they were worried or felt that they had more time, but stayed in the mound.
The sun was so hot that by noon, people had to hide under their cars, but they were still dizzy from the sun.
Song Jichang is a person who has no experience in exploration, but he is concerned about Yu Chunshun, who is walking alone in the desert. He was worried that Yu Chunshun would have any discomfort in the desert, so he arranged for everyone to chase Yu Chunshun in the afternoon.
At 4:25 p.m., the film crew caught up with Yu Chunshun in the lake basin, who had already walked 33 kilometers eight hours after setting off in the morning, and was only 3 kilometers away from his first camping supply point.
Seeing his friends surrounding him in the desert, Yu Chunshun seemed a little excited, he was sweating profusely, his eyes were full of tears, he clenched his fists and waved up and down, responding to everyone's concern: "I came here in one breath, without stopping, crossing Lop Nur safely, there must be no problem, you can rest assured." ”
Although Song Jichang has no experience in exploring first-hand, he cares and worries about his friends like an experienced explorer.
Everyone advised him to get in the car and rest for a while, but he resolutely refused. On foot, there is no room for falsehood, this is his credo. While urging everyone to get on the bus, he smiled and waved goodbye, "See you at the bridge!" ”
There was confidence and ease in his tone, and his voice was loud. The vitality of Yu Chunshun's whole body, as well as the confidence and resoluteness exuded from him, made the film crew feel at ease, and they watched Yu Chunshun go away, until his figure was once again integrated with heaven and earth, and then he calmly followed the predetermined route and marched towards the forward bridge.
No one thought that a few hours later, this fresh life would lose its vitality in the desert, and "let's see you on the bridge" was Yu Chunshun's last farewell to the world.
On June 12, a powerful sandstorm struck the vast desert, enveloping the entire region in a thick cloud of yellow soot. Facing Yu Chunshun, who crossed the desert alone, people's hearts were full of deep worries and concerns.
On the 13th of the agreed rendezvous, Yu Chunshun failed to arrive at the forward bridge as promised. Everyone was in an anxious mood, they were worried that Yu Chunshun would get lost, so they hung a red tent on the pole on the high place, and then divided into three ways and began to search near Loulan.
Scorching, hungry, nervous, and frightened, the film crew rushed around in the wind and sand, but never found any news of Yu Chunshun, and they had to ask Korla for help.
On the 17th, we did not find Yu Chunshun's whereabouts in the Loulan area. On the 18th, the search expanded to Lop Nur, and we found a striking blue spot in the center of the lake, which was Yu Chunshun's tent.
Seeing this scene, everyone was excited, shouted Yu Chunshun's name, and rushed towards the tent. We expect that Yu Chunshun, who has rich experience in exploration, will still be alive as long as he is not covered by the wind and sand.
In that endless desert, a corner of Yu Chunshun's blue tent had collapsed, and there was no sense of life. Under the scorching sun, the search and rescue personnel felt a chill rushing from the soles of their feet to the top of their heads, and the fear was huge.
At the door of the tent, an unsheathed Tibetan knife and a foul stench reminded them of the truth. The search and rescue personnel trembled and looked into the tent, Yu Chunshun was naked, lying on his back with his head facing east, his facial features were so swollen that he could not be identified, only his wet beard, as if he had been soaked in water, stuck to his chin.
Yu Chunshun, an explorer with eight years of exploration experience and the first person to hike the world's third pole, is known as a warrior sought after by thousands of people, however, he died tragically yesterday.
He also spoke passionately about his expedition plans, vowed to create a miracle of crossing Lop Nur in June, and walked like the wind into the distance. Now, he lies quietly on his back, and his life has quietly passed away.
After the forensic examination, his body was presented to us in its entirety, his hair was clean and neat, his bare upper body was covered with blisters, a blister on his right chest was the size of a ping-pong ball, and his right arm was slightly bent, as if he had taken the oath, quietly watching us.
The fragility and fragility of life makes people sigh.
After a forensic examination, his stomach was empty, which means that he had been deprived of water and food before his death**. This seasoned traveler was supposed to be able to cope with all kinds of situations with ease, but he tragically died in the desert.
After investigation, it was found that he had deviated from the original route and was only more than 50 meters away from the dirt road in the middle of the Lop Nur Lake. At the T-junction near the place of death, he should have turned right and headed west, but instead he chose the direction of south-east, which was obviously a fatal error in his judgment of direction.
In the face of the danger of death, although Yu Chunshun carried three advanced GPS positioning systems with him, he would not use them. He said he would learn again when he had time, but sadly, it might only be three seconds.
Near Yu Chunshun's tent, there are two deep pits, which he may have dug with a Tibetan knife, and he is looking for moisture or a way to escape the heat. On the way to chase him, it was found that he had only taken two bottles of water and that his backpack was still deflated.
If he can replenish water and food in time, he may be able to sustain the arrival of the search and rescue team. All of this makes us reflect on how advanced tools may not work as they should, no matter how advanced they are, without the right way of use and adequate preparation.
According to Yu Chunshun's last wishes, his body was buried on the spot. Despite the hot weather and hard labor, the tomb was soon dug up, and Yu Chunshun's body was placed with his tent, sleeping bag and other items, and remained in Lop Nur permanently.
The tombstone of the "place where Yu Chunshun was killed" is particularly striking in the desert, and 160 kilometers southeast of Lop Nur is the place where the scientist Pengamu disappeared. Two men from Shanghai, who are also excellent, face each other across the lake and sleep forever in Lop Nur.
Before the hero has shown his ambition, he has fallen on a journey. After 8 years of solo trekking all over China, the 45-year-old heroic soul fell silent in Lop Nur, although he left endless regrets, but he could not erase his brilliance as an outstanding explorer and traveler.
Perhaps the moment he chose to explore, he was indifferent to life and death. But while he uses the spirit of adventure to inspire others, he also uses his own experience to warn the world: adventure is not an adventure, a successful explorer, not only must have an indomitable spirit of exploration, but also have sufficient material reserves and scientific wisdom, I hope that the later ones can learn wisdom from Yu Chunshun's experience and lessons, go further and safer.
Life and Death Lop Nur: Yu Chunshun's final journey.
