A stress investigation of the UPS caused by a voltage drop in the plant

Mondo Technology Updated on 2024-02-01

Frequent voltage drops can put stress on UPS. With a power quality analyzer, appropriate measures can be taken by observing the waveform of the power supply over several days and analyzing the situation.

Essentials. The power quality analyzer captures voltage changes with an event function. Reduces stress on UPS and allows action to be taken on equipment errors caused by voltage drops.

Example of event voltage analysis.

The voltage drop begins, becoming 90VRMS. At this time, the power frequency power supply is switched to UPS.

The RMS voltage rises to 116VRMS. After that, the voltage waveform changes to a rectangular wave instead of a sine wave.

The rectangular wave lasts continuously for 125 seconds.

After that, the UPS switched to the power supply, and the switching moment dropped to 78VRMS.

Use the instrument. Power Quality Analyzer PQ3198-92 (600A sensor kit of 4, PC application software as standard).
