For us beekeepers, the spring multiplication plan is undoubtedly the key to determining the harvest of the year. However, the list of quality authors
When to start spring multiplication has become a controversial issue. I see that some friends choose to start spring multiplication in the coldest season, such as the big cold and the small cold. Just imagine, when the cold air of Siberia is like a shadow through most parts of our country, which is the coldest period in most parts of our country, is it really necessary to flourish in spring at this time? This may be a matter of opinion between the benevolent and the wise. My personal opinion is that it is not advisable to start spring multiplication in such extremely cold weather. Although the bees are relatively resistant to cold, I have reservations about whether the bees are really strong and their skin is healthy just by feeding sugar water and pollen when the outside temperature is constantly below 0 degrees.
In my opinion, the best choice for spring breeding in the bee should be to go with the flow. When the local temperature gradually warms up, and there are sporadic sources of nectar in the outside world, bees will naturally start laying eggs. At this time, we can properly replenish them with some pollen or honey water to make the colony grow quickly. This is a means we should employ. In order to meet the conditions of spring multiplication.
First of all, the temperature needs to meet a specific standard. For example, the minimum temperature cannot be lower than 10 degrees, because of the Chinese honey bee.
At around 5 degrees, it is already close to its survival limit. If the temperature is even lower, the bees may freeze to death outside. Therefore, we should not consider the minimum temperature to be lower than 10 degrees, and the maximum temperature should ideally reach more than 20 degrees, which will be better for the bees and easier to keep warm.
Secondly, the source of honey powder is also an important condition for spring reproduction. If there is a source of honey powder from the outside, even if it is a sporadic source of honey or powder, it can greatly reduce the labor cost and feed cost of our spring multiplication. When there are sporadic sources of nectar or powder from the outside world, bees naturally begin to multiply in spring. At this time, we can properly feed them some fermented pollen and a small amount of honey water, which can make the bees grow rapidly, the queen bee quickly lay eggs, and promote the rapid growth of the bee colony.
In early spring, when the nectar plants are in full bloom, it is a good time for bees to reproduce. However, some of my friends can't wait to start spring multiplication in the cold temperatures, and I don't think it's necessary. In cold weather, feeding honey water and pollen to encourage bees to multiply in the spring may make them less resistant, and ultimately the gains outweigh the losses.
If your area sees the blooming of nectar plants in large watersheds in early spring, then we should choose to breed more overwintering bees appropriately. This will not only ensure that more bees survive the cold winter months, but will also have enough bees to collect honey when the main stream of nectar arrives. In my opinion, spring reproduction should focus on the breeding of bees, supplemented by artificial assistance, so that the bees can naturally adapt to the changes of seasons, which is a wise move.
