First, the declaration conditionsThis project is mainly oriented to:This includes, but is not limited to, cultural heritage and mixed heritage in the Asian region that have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List or are on the World Heritage Tentative ListCall for examples of excellence in the implementation of heritage sites related to heritage conservation and management and sustainable development;We also welcome the application of excellent cases of the integration of world natural and cultural heritage. The application case should have a clear implementation effect at the time of declaration, and within 5 years after the completion or phased completion of the main results.

2. Selection criteria and designsetting

In line with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the theme of the World Heritage Convention "The Next 50 Years" published by UNESCO in 2022, the sustainable development of World Heritage is oriented to:Five themes: Collaborative Contribution, Improving Resilience, Scientific and Technological Innovation, Communication Education, and Prosperity and DevelopmentConduct a call for cases.

1.Collaborative contributions

Encourage excellent cases of international cooperation that demonstrate the concept of "cooperation, sharing and inheritance" in the conservation and management of World Heritage or Tentative List heritage.

Direction of declarable cases:This includes, but is not limited to, joint archaeological research, joint declaration of heritage, heritage protection, heritage display, international assistance, etc.

2.Improves resilience

Encourage examples of enhanced capacity of sites to respond to known threats or unknown changes, reconstruction and restoration following natural or man-made disasters, and exemplary examples of resilience of sites.

Direction of declarable cases:This includes, but is not limited to, disaster prevention and mitigation, post-disaster restoration, climate change, heritage site capacity building, management systems and tools, etc.

3.Scientific and technological innovation

Encourage the provision of scientific and technological support for heritage protection, promote the transformation of cross-border scientific and technological achievements, and empower cases with outstanding achievements in heritage protection, display, and management with science and technology.

Direction of declarable cases:This includes, but is not limited to, scientific and technological protection, heritage digitization, artificial intelligence applications, digital empowerment, etc.

4.Disseminating education

Encourage cases of mutual respect and exchange among civilizations through various means of communication and education, such as exhibitions, interpretations, etc., to make the value of heritage understood and appreciated by the wider public.

Direction of declarable cases:Including but not limited to exhibitions, public education, public communication, youth education, video works, etc.

5.Thrive and thrive

Cases of encouraging the development of socially relevant industries through sustainable tourism or through the rational use of heritage value to improve people's livelihood.

Direction of declarable cases:This includes, but is not limited to, heritage community livelihoods, heritage tourism, cultural and creative industries, community development, inclusive growth, etc.

3. The level of selection of recommended cases is set

Cases must be in the areas of collaborative contribution, resilience, scientific and technological innovation, dissemination of education, and prosperityOutstanding performance in one or more of the five themesand the case is judged based on its level of excellence1-3 excellent cases, 1-6 aggressive cases and 1-3 special attention

There are still many underdeveloped regions in Asia that face difficulties in heritage conservation.
