People's Daily Online, Tokyo, February 20 (Permission) The 4th "Japan-China Future Innovation and Development Seminar" hosted by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation of Japan and co-organized by the Japan Science Association was held in Tokyo on the 18th and 19th. More than 60 Chinese and Japanese students from the University of Tokyo, Wuhan University and other institutions participated in the two-day exchange activities.

With the theme of "The Future Life We Want to Achieve", students visited famous landmarks in Tokyo, such as Tokyo Tower, Sensoji Temple, and Shibuya, and learned more about the life and culture of each other's countries through lectures, field trips, and group discussions, and shared the possibilities of future life development.

New blogger Zhibo Yamashita, voice actor Liu Jingju, and Dr. Yu Zhiwei of Tsinghua University gave keynote speeches based on their own experiences.

Yamashita believes that the people of the two countries should better understand each other, citing his own experience when he first arrived in China, emphasizing the importance of making friends and actively interacting with local people. From a child who likes anime to a professional voice actor who is active in the Chinese and Japanese dubbing industry, Liu Jingju's experience of chasing her dreams and her heartfelt love aroused strong resonance among the students at the scene. Yu Zhiwei shared his experience of engaging in Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges for many years, and urged the students to have the courage to feel, think about life and put it into action.

At the event, Chinese and Japanese students discussed in groups and exchanged their feelings about the field trip in Tokyo and their imaginations for their future life. "There are a lot of barrier-free facilities in Japan that make it convenient for people with disabilities" "There are a lot of manga elements in the advertisements" "Why aren't there garbage cans on the streets?" ”…Post-it notes record the cultural differences that students have experienced.

Focusing on the themes of symbiosis between man and nature, garbage disposal, and sightseeing, the students depicted a beautiful vision for the future life with the help of cutting-edge technologies such as AI and VR.

Yuichiro Watanabe, Director of the Japan Science Association, Ren Libo, President of Guoguan Think Tank, and Qiu Ming, Dean of the School of Oriental Languages of Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Chinese, fully affirmed the imagination, observation and teamwork spirit displayed by the students, and said that the future belongs to the young generation, and they hope that the young people of the two countries will enhance their understanding of each other's cultures and strengthen dialogue and communication.

Kenichi Takahashi from Waseda University, who had studied abroad in China, led the group on field trips to Ueno and Harajuku as a volunteer. Xin Chen, from the Department of Japanese at Wuhan University, and Lin Zihan from the Department of Japanese at Fuzhou University are both visiting Japan for the first time, and they are very curious about the capsule toy machines and open-air markets on the streets of Japan. The two of them excitedly said that they had learned about Japan from books in the past, but this time, through exchanges with Japanese students and field trips, they have gained a more three-dimensional understanding and cognition of Japanese society.

Akira Ohno, a fourth-year student from Waseda University, is participating in the seminar for the third time. He said that through the exchange with Chinese students, he felt the difference in the way of life and mindset of the two countries, which led to a deeper interest in Chinese culture and local society. We look forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with young people in China in the future and creating new sparks.

The Japan-China Future Innovation and Development Symposium was launched in 2022 with the aim of enhancing understanding and thinking about how to build a stronger bilateral relationship through exchanges and dialogues between Chinese and Japanese youth. More than 40 Chinese students were invited to visit Japan by the winners of the Sasakawa Cup National University Japan Knowledge Competition, the Sasakawa Cup Essay Contest and the Sasakawa Cup Japanese Studies Competition, and the winners of the "Panda Cup" Japanese Youth Perception China Essay Contest were invited to visit Japan.
