We are living in an era surrounded by garbage

In this era of rapid technological change and increasingly abundant material life, the modern civilization that we are proud of seems to be facing a garbage siege crisis. Don't deny it, and listen to me slowly.

Once upon a time, we humans still lived an idyllic life of "working at sunrise and resting at sunset", and the garbage at that time was just some natural degradants such as vegetable leaves, fruit peels, and feces. However, with the advent of the Industrial Revolution, the way we live has changed dramatically.

Nowadays, we have to deal not only with household waste, but also with various "new" wastes such as industrial waste and e-waste.

Not to mention the food scraps, packaging bags, waste paper and other household waste that we produce every day, the electronic products that we eliminate alone are enough to make the earth unbearable.

According to statistics, millions of tons of e-waste are generated globally every year, and only a small fraction of it is properly disposed of. The remaining e-waste is either illegally dumped or incinerated, which brings great pollution to the environment.

Not to mention the industrial waste.

The exhaust gas, waste water, and waste residue emitted by the factory not only pollute the surrounding air, soil, and water sources, but also greatly reduce our quality of life. Sometimes, we even have to wear masks and cover our noses to barely survive in this "garbage siege".

However, that's not the scariest of all. The scariest thing is that we seem to have become accustomed to this life surrounded by garbage. We complain about environmental pollution while continuing to buy disposable products; While calling for resource conservation, we also throw away items that can still be used. We keep saying that we want to protect the planet, but we can't even do the most basic garbage separation.

In recent years, garbage sorting has introduced relevant policies in many cities to try to improve the problem of garbage disposal. However, in practice, is garbage sorting really successful?

When it comes to garbage sorting, many people may proudly say, "We've done a great job!" But is that really the case? Don't be funny, we're still in the early stages!

Let's take a look at the current state of garbage sorting. In many cities, garbage sorting facilities have been quite perfect, and garbage cans of various colors are neatly arranged to guide people to classify and put them. However, in practice, everyone still goes their own way, throwing garbage into the same bucket one by one. Because everyone thinks: no matter how good the sorting facilities are, they can't resist the cheerful casual throwing.

Perhaps, we should reflect on whether our so-called modern civilization is really as beautiful as we imagined. Perhaps, we should re-examine our way of life and reduce waste production at the source.

Perhaps, each of us should take action to make a little change for the sake of our common homeland and for the sake of our future generations.

The garbage siege is not alarmist. In this modern civilization surrounded by garbage, none of us is immune. But as long as we work together, start with ourselves, change our living habits, and raise environmental awareness, I believe we will be able to get rid of garbage and restore the beauty of the earth to its former beauty. After all, the earth we live on should not be a huge garbage dump.
