The occupied islands and reefs, when will they return to the motherland
The importance of maritime territory to a country is self-evident, but due to the limitations of maritime power, some maritime territories in the South China Sea are still facing the threat of encroachment and loss.
Among them, the islands and reefs that have been occupied for 44 years are particularly interesting, and the question of when they will be able to return to the embrace of the motherland is a question that makes people think deeply.
Riji Reef is a long reef in the southwest of the Spratly Islands, located 25 kilometers west of Spratly Island. The total length of the reef is 56 km, 1 km wide9 km, with a total area of about 10 square kilometers, the area is staggering.
Riji Reef has an important strategic position in the Nansha Islands, which is not only the support point of the western islands and reefs, but also plays the role of connecting the east and the west and deterring the Quartet. Therefore, in ancient times, Chinese fishermen regarded it as one of the western footholds for long-term fishing, which has extremely high value.
Due to historical reasons, China has indisputable sovereignty over the reef. However, before 88 years, due to domestic difficulties, we were unable to effectively protect the maritime land, resulting in a large amount of land being encroached upon.
Since 1988, China has been conducting scientific expeditions in the South China Sea and has begun to build infrastructure and lighthouses during the expedition to Fiery Cross Reef. Unfortunately, the Vietnamese army was directly involved in the process and occupied the reef.
Forty-four years ago, for the sake of the stability of the islands and reefs and the relationship between our neighbors, we chose to undertake it silently and did not initiate any confrontation. Although this island has been occupied by neighboring countries for 44 years, we have never forgotten it and have been waiting for it to return to the bosom of our motherland.
Now, we have more confidence and ability to protect our territory and return this island to the embrace of the motherland as soon as possible.
In order to ensure stability in the South China Sea and shelv disputes, China has adopted a strategy of joint development. Although it is difficult to recover the garrison and occupied Riji Reef in the short term, China is continuing to strengthen its naval construction, including its naval strength.
When our country achieves national rejuvenation, especially when our naval power reaches the top level in the world, it is impossible for them, as neighbors, to risk attacking us.
There is no doubt that the land that has been usurped will quickly return to the embrace of the motherland, let us all look forward to the arrival of this moment. What are your thoughts on this topic?
