So what is a drop angle?
The water drop angle is defined as the angle between the gas-liquid phase interface and the solid-liquid phase interface at the interface of solid, liquid and gas phases, the water drop angle is the scale that shows the moisture of the solid surface, and most of the sessile droplets are used to measure, and the low contact angle indicates that the surface with high humidity (hydrophilicity) is easy to paste. A high contact droplet angle indicates that the surface is hydrophobic, with high surface organic contamination or poor surface adhesion. The contact angle of the liquid in contact with the flat solid surface is determined by the end point of the water bead curve in the liquid-solid-gas junction and the contact point of the solid surface to analyze the surface cleanliness, the contact angle is the scale that shows the moisture of the solid surface, and most of the fixed matter droplets are used to measure, and the low contact angle indicates high humidity (hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity) and low surface energy.
Composition of the water drop angle tester
1.Contact angle measuring instrument: This device usually consists of a small hole, a droplet forming device, and a camera. After the droplets fall on the surface of the solid, the camera takes an image of the droplets in contact with the solid, and then calculates the droplet angle by analyzing the images.
2.Digital microscopes and image processing software: Digital microscopes and image processing software can be used to observe and measure the contact angle formed by droplets. By zooming in on the image and using a software measurement tool, the boundaries of the droplets can be accurately plotted on the image and the drop angle calculated.
3.Tensiometer: A tensiometer can measure the surface tension of liquids through a series of tests and methods, including measuring the angle of water droplets. This instrument typically uses a special grip to hold a solid sample on a device, then drip the liquid onto the solid surface, and finally measure the drop angle by a correlated method.
